I'm going to go with Roku on our three televisions - I upgraded our internet to 75/75, and am going to return all these terribly expensive set top box rentals to FIOS.
Which subscription services would you get? We already have Amazon Prime. DW likes to watch Law&Order, Criminal Minds, and Love it or List it type shows. DD (15) is pushing for Netflix, so she can watch Grey's Anatomy. We need some shows for the little ones. I'm just trying to keep costs down, and prevent my kids from easily accessing porn.

The streaming services we use most frequently are Netflix, HBOgo, and Showtime. My kids also use Amazon Prime on the iPad. I've been watching old Bravo shows on Hulu recently, but I can't think of anything else I've watched through that. We borrow all the logins from my parents though. If I actually paid for the services, I think HBOgo and Netflix are the only ones I'd use.

We've been thinking about this, too.

We currently have frontier FIOS, 50/50 plus TV, which, as long as I call every year to complain when my rates go up, isn't HORRIBLY expensive, but I feel like I could save a few bucks by cutting the TV cord.

We have an Amazon Fire box on our TV, and we watch a lot of prime streaming and netflix on it. We like having the DVR on the TV for current shows, though, but not sure if it's worth the extra we're paying on top of the internet cost. Between prime, netflix, and apps like PlutoTV (all MST3K or Rifftrax all the time!), we have plenty we can watch, but we DO still watch some "current" shows that aren't available on streaming. Mostly PBS and BBCAmerica and various discovery channels, and PBS just started their "PBS Passport" thing, which is TONS of PBS streaming for a $5/month donation...but getting current BBCAmerica shows could be an issue. There are services like Acorn and Britbox, but I don't think any of them have the current Doctor Who, for instance, in the week it comes out. I haven't looked hard for that, yet.

If you're looking for a (maybe cheaper than cable) "live tv" with DVR, there are at least 5 major 'stream live TV' services out there; this article talks about them (Sling, Hulu, youtube, Playstation, and DirecTV): http://www.businessinsider.com/strea...on-vue-2017-5/

I'm thinking we may just try a few of them out and see how well they work and if they're cheaper than the extra we're paying Frontier for TV; I think they're all month to month, so we can just drop one if we don't like it.

We've been without cable for six years. We don't watch sports. We have Amazon Prime, Netflix and HBO Go. The HBO was a free trial for two months. I haven't decided if I want to keep it or not. I probably won't. We have a smart tv but recently got a roku stick and it works much better with the stick.

We have Hulu and Netflix. If we really want to watch new, we buy a Season Pass on Amazon video (maybe one or two shows a year?). DH has an MLB sub (he got a great deal) and a Fubo sub (soccer).

We got rid of everything but basic cable (it was cheaper to keep our Internet and phone with the basic cable) and got a Fire TV. We pay for Prime and Netflix. The basic cable lets us authenticate a lot of the apps, like ABC, NBC, etc. For some of the ones we don't have, like DIsney Jr or HBO, we use my parents' cable login. We also have the Kodi app, with the Exodus add-on, which pretty much lets you stream anything. It's one of those where I don't ask too many questions, because I'm not sure how it all works, and whether it's 100% legit.

We use Netflix and Hulu. Netflix for the kids shows and some movies and Netflix original series and Hulu for everything else. I watch it the next day after it's aired. The only thing that sucks is abc won't release it for current show or fox? All I know is I have to wait for the entire season of blue bloods to finish before it's up on Hulu. But mostly everything else I watch one day after. Hulu has the kids shows too. I have the roku so the "apps" I have are also YouTube, pbs kids, and a lot of other ones. And we also have Kodi

same deal here. We have 3 old tvs, and the rokus are acting up a bit. It will take some time to get the bugs out. I think we'll probably go with amazon and netflix and see how that goes.
