  • Couple photos

Dh and I are doing couple photos. Anyone have any good ideas. I am trying to stay away from a "engagement photo" look.
What should we wear, I wish I could have the dogs, but that would turn into a circus.

Act overly affectionate. It will feel stupid, but looks good in photos. It's been awhile since I did couples, but my favorites would be when I would set them up next to each other and just tell them to talk or kiss

Oh I did not know there was a photography forum. Can someone move it?

Remember that they don't all have to be looking at the camera. I like the ones from further away where the couple are just interacting and not posing. Also, I always really like the ones where the couple holds hands and walks away from the camera...it's hard to look cheesy from behind.

ITA with everything said above. When we took our engagement portraits, we did one formal-look-at-the-camera-show-the-ring portrait for the engagement announcment and then took a walk on Ocean Drive for the rest. This one is my favorite.

It might help to have an activity or two to do during the shoot to keep it from looking so much like an engagement session. Take the dogs for a walk, go to a coffee shop, ride bikes, go to a playground, etc. -- anything that will allow y'all to interact beyond holding hands and snuggling. As for what to wear, I'd just avoid anything with strong patterns and go with complimentary outfits, not matching ones (again for the whole avoiding the engagement look thing).
