I'm going to post about the exposure triangle this afternoon and nudge you out of auto. If you've never been out of auto and this is all brand spankin' new to you break out your camera's user manual or find a copy of it online if you've lost it.
Familiarize yourself with the following:
Where is your ISO setting? How do you turn it up/down? What is your ISO range?
Are you shooting with a fixed (ie 50mm) lens or a zoom lens (ie 70-200mm)?
What is the fixed aperature or aperature range of your lens?
How do you adjust the aperature (also referred to as f-stop) on your camera body? Practice turning it up and down.
How do you adjust the shutter speed (SS) on your camera? Flip it around and get comfortable.
The goal is to familiarize yourself with your camera body and lens. You don't need to respond, but play around so your fingers will start learning where to go when you need to make an adjustment.
When we post pics let's include the settings (ISO, SS, Ap). These settings will help us give you advice to improve your exposure, focus, etc. We can tell you what to bump and tweak if we know how you shot it.
