Anyone buy on lately? Have one that you love? We've decided its time to upgrade because of sports for the kids, etc.

And I would say midrange, don't want to skimp but don't want to spend a TON either...

I have NO idea what I'm looking at, we haven't had anything but a compact point and shoot for many many years...

My rec would be to buy one with the lens kit (2 lenses) because you'll want the zoom lens and it is way mor expensive to buy separately.

I think the new Nikon D3200 give you a lot of bang for your buck for en entry-level DSLR. You will need to keep in mind that it requires lenses that have the autofocus motor on them (Nikkor -AF lenses), since the camera body doesn't have it. So you'll pay slightly more for future lenses than if you bought a higher-end camera body. But it looks like a great deal to me.

I would honestly go to a camera store and ask. We can make recs but you'll want to hold them, feel where the buttons are, etc. Plus, if you want it for shooting sports, you'll also need a pretty good longer range lens that can capture fast movement. I don't pretend to know what that would be...hell, I just got my first prime lens, but I know my kit zoom lens doesn't work well for movement.
