Help!

I know I need to dig through my closet before posting but I'm going to post anyway.

In two weeks I am going to my daughter's school auction. It is at night and the theme is "Black White and the Blues" and there is a blues band playing. It is not "black and white" as in black tie. Remember, this is the land of fleece and the event will be more casual than it would be on the east coast.

What should I wear? :thud: I *really* do not want to wear any of my maternity clothes (and those would be too loose). My regular clothes don't fit through the waist. Like I said, I need to go through my closet, but I don't think I have anything dressier that fits right now. I have one black lightweight wool maternity skirt that I would maybe wear if it fits. Looks like:

Since you describe the crowd/setting as fleece-wearing casual, I think that skirt is fine. If it's wool, I'd wear it with boots vs opentoe shoes though. Do you have a black or white top?

Yeah, I think that would look good with a black sweater and boots. Is that too much black for you or would you feel comfortable in that?

I'm fine with black head to toe.

The skirt stays on...barely. I will not be needing to wear Spanx under it. I love my black boots so I'll wear those. Hmm...white tops. I have a plainish white button up. I have a lightweight, kind of tissue weight, black silk sweater. That is maternity too but it is very fitted (Katie Holmes had the same one! ). Most of my regular nicer clothes are probably too fitted through the chest right now.

I'll go spelunking through the depths and see what I can find.

Any suggestions on a white shirt for this?

I think head-to-toe black is an East Coast thing. Nelly, what about a white cami under that black sweater?

I'll try that. I know I have one somewhere. My closet is a nightmare -- lingering maternity clothes, a pile of things that fits, and my regular stuff set aside higher than I can reach.

Must move this up on the priority list.
