Well, not many people's tummies look like the model's tummy. It's just an example.

And I don't think anyone is promoting 24/7 heels either. It's not necessary, especially in summer! And especially in SC! Flip flops or cute flats can be comfortable, manuverable, and attractive and can be worn with ANYTHING!

      Here are a few examples.

      Curvy (Target)

      Plus size (JessicaLondon.com)

      Maternity (Amazon)

      The suit version (http://www.us.redoute.com)

      Super casual (Bloomingdales)

      Petite (Spiegel)

I'm having a hard time thinking that chick is plus-sized.

Sorry, I know I am being difficult about this. I really think me and fashion aren't meant to be friends. Especially with all the strict rules.

I am wearing denim capris right now. :nana:

But it's also easy to get into schleppy mommy look, too.

            What she said.

Also, okay, I have tried on linen pants. They are not flattering in hiding flaws at all (like kangaroo pouches). Further, they wrinkle and get dirty too easily. I am on the floor a lot with kids who put their dirty hands on me. I really don't see what is all that wrong with denim capris. I don't think they look bad at all. I would think it would be worse to see a big woman's belly flappy then her calves.

I am tall and obviously not stick thin, but I don't mind being "shortened." In fact, I am more afraid of looking like an Amazon. I am most often the tallest woman in a room, and when dh and I got married, they made him stand on the church steps so he appeared taller than me. I would think it was way better for me to look shorter than rollier.

Heidi, that whole website is plus sized, don't know why their models aren't. If you get the pants in a dark color with a straight or wide leg, they shouldn't accentuate anything you don't want them too. Linen pants don't have to be white or tight.

As for the heels, I think it just depends on your general comfort with heels. Most women who are very comfortable in heels don't alter their shoes based on their activities that much (gym doesn't count). You obviously wouldn't be wearing stilettos at home or on a play date, but I really don't see how a 2 inch wedge would be a handicap.

I have to endorse the SPANX again here. I speak from experience.

Plus the calf-length Spanx will smooth out lumpiness under a nice pair of linen trousers. Not a solution for playing with the kids etc. but works well for sort of dressyish-casual. I spent last summer in a chocolate-brown pair and a black pair.

Spanx cost $50 a pair. Holy crap. No, I am pretty sure I am meant to look like a frumpy mom.

Heidi, you could try the Sarah Blakely ones (Assets?) at Target that Stella mentioned (Spanx knock-off) or E-Bay. A friend of mine found a pair there.

I agree, Julie. They are great.

Because then their models would look crappy in linen pants. Even the Lane Bryant models are 6'2" size 14s. Its rediculous.

I used to dance for 10 hours a day in ballroom 2 1/2 inch heels. I can do that, but I can't chase a toddler through the park in anything "cute."

I love skirts but don't wear them too much anymore b/c of the kids. I'm so paranoid that we will be walking outside and a gust of wind will blow the skirt up (WHY do we keep moving to windy cities?!) What is the solution for this? Why can't skirts have the little dress panties that my daughters have?

They're $50 now? Holy crap! I've been wearing mine for like like five or six summers but I'm pretty sure they were only 25 when I got them. I remember balking at the price but then liking them so much I went back and got another short pair and a calf-length.

I think it was Stella who said the knockoffs are also good.

Nellie, I will have to try the fake Spanx. Thanks for the suggestion Stella.

I really feel like it is hopeless for me.

Don't give up hope, Heidi. (Because then that means I would have to.) It is frustrating, though.
