    Angie,

I'm proud of you - seems like you had great sartorial sense. Sounds like it's the town. Obviously, I thought it would be a suprise "black tie" thing.

Never in a million years would I have guessed folks would do all the following (go to country club, have an auction, pay for plates, stay late on a saturday night, an annual event) and have men wearing sweaters.

The only consolation from my point of view is if my dress is "off", I like to err on the side of over vs. under-dressed. No....not ascot, pinky ring, vest and pocket watch over-dressed but you get the drift.

Aren't you going to post a link to that?

I'm definitely distracted enough to do so...just maybe not technically saavy enough to find it quickly.

At least they didn't go "Dickensian" on you....maybe next year?

DH is the same way....he'd far rather be over-dressed than under. I'm uncomfortable either way. I like to nail it.

            My point exactly. Who knew?

That's why I always go vintage because really, you stand out anyway so who cares!

We have a fantastic vintage store walking distance from my house so I pop in every so often to see what they have.

I'm jealous, I don't have the proportions to carry off vintage.

You sound fun, I just LOVE vintage clothes, but DH would never go with me if I attired myself in such a way

Well, you have to understand that my husband has a secret obnoxious side. It rarely comes out and he's really sneaky. Sometimes all he'll do is put in his hoop earrings and wear a party shirt. (yeah, he has both ears pierced...it's kinda sexy, I have to say. Obviously this accessory is only worn in the most civilian of occasions)

My vintage stuff is tasteful, in a completely loud way.

WTF? I totally would have worn what you did! I agree with Lily, you need a new crowd.

I'd love to- I don't have any of the Silver Lame/red carnation skirt Holiday Party outfit but my friend might. (That was the year I was on the planning committee and I worked my arse off at the party) The year of the black long skirt with the neon pink flowers is also one of the ones that I was on the committee. (I volunteered after we had the worst holiday party ever- I know there's some ancient posts about it- suffice it to say that we had finger shaped finger sandwiches...)

I'm pretty sure I have one of the funky dress that I wore to my grandmother's 90th birthday party but all of my cousins are in it. I'll find it and post it.
