Okay, so I didn't realize that you got the suit in brown. My bad! Don't wear black shoes! I also wouldn't wear anything with a platform (sorry, Lily, I still love you) and I'd probably not wear blue or light brown with it.

What color/style/material top will you be wearing?

Are you hemming the pants? How long are they? I need to know what size heel I'm working with here. For now, I'll go with around 2-2.5" but let me know if I can go higher.

Oh, and before I show you my samples, I am shameless with heel hights at work. I think it's hot but not inappropriate. I usually wear 4" heels to work. or out. or to the grocery store.

Oh yeah, also, I wouldn't recommend a slingback because the back hem of your suit can get caught under your heel and it looks really dumb. Anyway...

Oh yeah! I was thinking about that after I posted last night. Definitely get the shoes first.

And Stella I know I said 4" heels don't look professional but I wear them too at work. I think it also depends on the company you work at and how conservative they are.

Make sure to cut off the cuff when you hem the pants. Go for as high of heel as you can and definitely a pointy toe. Pointy shoes will elongate the leg line. I like the dark brown suggestions that Stella pointed above. Definitely don't do slingbacks with pants, the bottom will get caught in the shoe and it's not pretty.

Yes, I'm going to pick out shoes first, then hem. The other way, is a recipe for fashion disaster. Am I right or am I right?

I'm not going to do 4" heels. I'm barely 5' tall, and I think it'll look desperate for some height. An academic setting is not the place to try this. CONSERVATIVE is the name of the game here.

I was going wear a cream colored camisole under the jacket. I forgot to buy the one I tried the suit on with. So, I'm going to have to go back and pick it up.

I like them a lot. Go for it. Do you have to do a cream shell? It's just so safe. Can you go for a pink one instead? I really like pink & brown combination.

You're right, that would look good.

Love the shoes you picked out. Cream is okay depending on the style of the shell. If it is plain, pick something else. I love powder blue and brown.

Luanne, you're easy. I can even do this in person. When do you finish?

I ended up buying these today. To go with my brown suit. I got brown patent with a moss green suede. They're not pictured, but they're the same style as these.
