I'm looking for a medium-sized bag for the summer season, with a zip closure to fit at least a small notebook, book, small calendar, wallet, keys, phone, makeup bag, and bottle of water. I don't like bags with logos all over them (Louis Vuitton, the Cs in Coach, etc). And I don't like white stitching nor tassles. Any ideas? Leather is ok, but a dressy canvas would be ok too.

Well, I am biased towards these bags but I have a pink picnic bag and love it.

In canvas without the Cs all over it. But the price isn't much lower than the leather. I get in so much trouble when my husband is on call. It's far to expensive.

          Niiiiiice.

I wonder how the canvas holds up? The leather ones are great.

Yeah, that was my question. If something gets on it, and I try to clean it, then will I get those huge rings? Do you anything in canvas?

The leather ones are quite heavy. You see, neither will do, so I guess I should move on...

The leather bags are heavier. They hold up so nicely and like you are saying -- you can put stuff on the leather. If I had a canvas bag, I think it would look dingy by the end of the year.

My husband would KILL me if I bought the tan leather bag, Nellie. Stop being such a bad influence on me, Nellie!!!

(It would be perfect though.... Sigh)

                  Thanks, guys.
I'd like for it to have a zipper across the top - I'm in Chicago, remember?

                    $39 -- way to go!

I'm starting to have beach-y thoughts.

No, I didn't mean that! It's just one of those things that I always forget about until I get to the store and they say, "look, it zips across the top, so no one can grab inside and take stuff."

Ooh I like the second Coach one. I need a new handbag too.

Alison, what about this one? Too big?

It's got a nice shape, but... I don't like white stitching.

This is similar to the coach in shape!

Ooooh you might like it. And it's only $35!

                              http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... /ref=nosim

I would go to http://www.like.com and try searching for a bag on there. It searches hundreds of websites for a bad you like based on shape, color- basically 'likeness'. So if you find a style you like, it'll find tons that are similar but may be cheaper!

I'll keep looking- I love bags!
