What is a short girl to do?

In the cold months when you are wearing a dress/skirt and it's freezing outside? Tights? and what color? and what shoes???

I'm nervous about this cold weather fashion stuff

No. I seriously can't stand even the tiniest little itsy bitsy kitten heel. I could probably be persuaded to wear a wedge heel but that's it.

So I'm thinking almost knee length boot? I'm only 5'1". . .maybe 5'2" on a good day.

Ditto, I'm 5'1" and if I can I wear wedged heels or boots for the winter. I am not a dress girl, I only wear skirts during the summer cause I'm making an effort to be cute for DH, after spending most of our relationship on a skirt hiatus. So in the winter, you won't see me in a skirt unless I really really want to be cute, and I am going to outside for under 5 minutes

Go with a wedge knee high boots. As for tights, I try to match the skirt/dress (gray w/gray, brown w/brown, etc.), but I do buy a pattern, so it's not all one boring mess. How many winter skirts/dresses do you have? You can probably get away with one pair of black boots and a couple of pair of tights. If you tend to get very cold, go with tights that are wool/cashmere blends and boots with extra padding or shearling lined.

I feel your pain! I'm 4'11'' and I can't ever find clothes! Small girls who aren't shaped like 11 year old boys definitely have problems with clothes.

I actually wear a LOT of skirts (with tights or without depending on the time of the year) because I find pants, especially dress pants, have too much fabric and we look drowned in fabric because we're short!

I embrace flats. I'm short and I'm not trying to fool anyone (it wouldn't work anyway, it's pretty obvious that we're short).

I'm 4'10-1/2". I thought I was the only one under 5' tall. I find the petite sizes for pants at Banana Republic and Gap fit my height fairly well. I've also had luck with the petite sizes at J.Crew but I haven't bought anything from them in years.

I rarely wear skirts/dresses because my inner thighs rub together when I walk and I find it annoying.

Brrr. I,too, rarely wear skirts in Winter. I own one Ralph L. wool long skirt and still wear boots with it. I am also short and have found that pants make my legs look longer - hence the illusion of possible height???

For pants, I also like petites fron Ann Taylor, AT Loft and Talbots.
