  • my hair...

i have had very short hair and very long hair...and cuts in between. my hair is very thick and curly.

im working on growing out a few layers, and i have an inverted cut right now. think posh spice..but the front pieces are NOT as long as hers.
my friend here, the hairdresser chick, hooks me up with a blowdry and a flat iron when i want to feel put together. when its not blown out and straight, it flips up and curls.

(yeah, so this is longer than i was intending... )anyhow...sat. im getting it chemically straightened. my friend doesnt want to do it and dh is BEGGING me not to do it.

"i love your curls, your hair..why are you doing this. im begging you not to do it..gawd forbid i love the way my wife looks"

isnt that sweet?? im so doing it anway. i hope it's everthing i want it to be.

    Re: my hair...

    I agree with Annie.

    Sorry.

Since the beginning of time...or almost since then...the curly haired girls want straight and the straight haired girls long for curls. Sometime during three year old preschool, Bryn told me she wanted straight hair like Ella and on the same night Ella told her mom she wanted curly hair like Bryn.

    I say embrace the curl.

And if that really really doesn't work, a friend of mine with curly hair that tends to frizz did that super expensive all day straightening thing and it looks great. But I think it cost around or at least $500.

you girls are making me nervous. i have had it done before, when my hair was much longer. *sigh* i dont know....i may still do it!!!

Of course, if you're style is short and your getting frequent cuts then it's less of an issue.

Kinda looks like someone inserted an underwire upside down under her skin.

Sylvia - do what you want to do. My cousin has done the chemical straightening several times (she doesn't have curly hair though -- but wanted the straight look w/low maintenance). She did the $500 / all day thing, but even said that eventually paid for itself b/c she didn't need to buy products and/or spend time on her hair.

My friend who did this has three young kids. She figures it paid for itself for the same reason. More importantly, she can sleep half an hour later each morning. Her hair looks amazing. I think I might see a flat iron fly out her front door.

Holy crap, the money I could spend! Who needs a job when being me takes so much maintenence?

I did just get a new do though. It's a day old, so it doesn't look as good as it did yesterday, but I'll have dh take a pic.

Anyway, . Sorry about that. I have had my hair chemically straightened before, and it never worked very well. My hair is pretty wavy, and someplaces curly. My hair can't make up it's damn mind. I would love to try the fru-fru no flat iron treatment!

                      Good luck, Sylvia!

I agree with Trisha, it's just hair.

I think you should try it... you can have it straight until your haircut grows out.

I wish I could pull of the Posh cut. It's so cute.

gotta love the jewfro. i asked my friend about having something done with an 'ethnic chemical' and she doesnt think we need to go that extreme.

when i say the posh cut, i mostly mean the back side.

here is a pic of me and the babes w/pumpkins a couple weekends ago. my hair was blown out and flat ironed. thats it...all im going for. nothing dykey (sp?)

Cute, Sylvia! I like it and I can see why you would want to save the time of the flat iron or blowing it out.
