  • I can't believe I succumbed to the skinny jean.

Lily, when you say curvy, I"m not sure how curvy so I hope it's ok to post some ideas from Avenue. Regardless of your actual size I'm sure you can find similar stuff anywhere.

But I think this is cute and is paired up with skinny jeans:

    http://www.avenue.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... %20Outfits

This top I think would work too:

    http://www.avenue.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... %20Outfits

Tops that aren't boring on top, that have some elegent design or nice fabric that really pops to jeans - something silky or textured.

Look in the last row, I like the first and last sweater - especailly the last one in black:

    http://www.avenue.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... 0000000326

and lastly I think something with a thick belt used in the middle would look cute (I just look stupid in this look but others look sooo cute!)

Like a cute sweater with a foldover collar:

Or something like this with a flowy silk shirt underneath that means the upper hip line:

Make something up top draw the eyes to fab fabric, fab designer lines, fab v-neck lines, or fab shirts with interesting shoulder
lines, or some of it all together. Have fun shopping! And let us know what you do

    start throwing shoes at me.
Nope, I think that you have to wear what works for you. I can only do bootcut. Skinny doesn't work for me because of ginormous quads, and baggy or loose adds weight because I'm petite. If you can pull off the skinny jeans, do it. We'll only be slightly catty and whisper "beyatch" a couple of times under our breath. All and all, I think that this is pretty good for a bunch of vain, catty women like me.

Hey now, haven't you had those curse Tom Ford for the stovepipe jean tirades?

Oh, I found one that isn't from slutwear

ohhhhhh I really like this - I can't pull off the pirate shirt, but she looks cute

This is cute too, but I"m confused, do you want to hide the boobs or bare all

I really hate to say it, because you KNOW I love you, but take them back. I guess I've just always felt that unless you have the body of a supermodel, skinny jeans are out.

That said, I haven't seen you in them. So who knows.

I found more!!!! (and pity all I can where are tees right now...)

Ok, this is just beautiful, though the neckline may be a do or bust depending on your taste

this with fab shoes - which we all know you have could look great, though I don't know how busty she is compared to you, but a shirt that's almost a mini dress would look really cute over the skinny jeans - these are for the holidays but you could find something less glittery for everyday

            http://www.ardenb.com/catalog/product.j ... uctId=6225

            here's another tunic

            http://www.ardenb.com/catalog/product.j ... uctId=5344

I like this too for the interest in the chest area

            http://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/st ... =300109003

another that is longer and draws you to the waist

            http://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/st ... =300109014

this would accent your waist, and you could cami it for coverage in the chest area

Re: I can't believe I succumbed to the skinny jean.

Some said they looked great in them, hey if she likes them and finds a great top, I don't think there is any reason she can't pull them off - especially with that girls shoe collection!

If you are not lucky enough to be born with a model like figure, I am sure you must be cursing the return of skinny jeans.

But lets be realistic. All of us know that, most men and women prefer the curves. So even the curvaceous lot can wear the skinny fashion, keeping in mind these tips:

If you’re self-concious about your tummy/ hip/ butt area, pick a pair that is more similar to straight legs than stovepipes. Team it up with long, cozy chunky knit cardigan or a floaty top belted at the narrowest part of the waist.

Try several brands and zero down to the one that flatters your figure the most.

Choose a solid color, as it gives length and gives a sleek look to your body.

The 80’s trend of tucking jeans into boots is still chic. Pair it with a blazer or fitted oxford shirt to camouflage wide hips.

Re: I can't believe I succumbed to the skinny jean.

I've been pretty much against the skinny jeans too until I tried on Lucky skinny jeans (Lola fit). They actually didn't make me look like a whale on chicken legs. So right now I believe that there are skinny jeans out there that fit well. If I ever get over paying full price for them, I'll post a pic.

But back to the topic at hand. I like a longer fitted top with skinny jeans, like a long layers t-shirt or sweater. You can even throw in a belt over the sweater to show off your waist or wear a wrap top.

ITA. This is how I see skinny jeans worn all over LA. Skinny jeans go well with a nice boot over them too. I pair them with a black slimming boot and a longer sweater with a belt. Apparently, they go well with the Shoebooty now, which is an ankle boot.
Personally, this is the only way I find skinny jeans attractive.

With that endorsement, I'm going to try a pair of these. I need a new pair of jeans and I like Lucky Jeans and will hopefully be by there on Friday.

What's the big deal? If you bought them to wear with boots, and you're getting a longer sweater or tunic, the only part of the jean you'll see is your thighs and I'm sure the jeans are very flattering.

As long as they fit well in the waist, and aren't too tight (I have that problem...they're too tight at the waist if I want them to fit in the leg, or baggy at the leg if I want them to fit at the waist ), I see absolutely nothing wrong with skinny jeans- for waify or curvy girls. I love the look, especially with the boots. You bought them for a reason, right? I say go for it!

And how dark is the denim? My opinion is, the darker the better.

May be I should ask them for a commission check. Actually you might get a better deal at a department store (I know Bloomies carry them, Nordstrom might too).

So, Lily, what did you end up doing?

Vishenka, Lucky is having some sort of promotion like 15% off purchase over $100ish or so. Maybe you could get a price adjustment? I got a pair of the Lola jeans. They are great but I'm not quite there to putting them IN my boots. They look better over.
