I prefer Asian places but they're not as gentle or sometimes even relaxing as the regular places. My advice is to definitely stay away from the Red Door. They've gone down tremendously and it's always a mad house.
Since I prefer frequency over pampering and like massages to be more bone breaking my favorite places are actually very low key. Chinatown has some great places for $50 (including tax & tip) and the Korean block in midtown has some nice ones.
I'd advice on skipping Manolo and sticking to 5th. I hear Bendel is also having a huge sale as is Fendi.
For lunch, go downstairs to the Rock Center concourse and grab lunch at one of the dozen places, some are carry out, but there's plenty of seating around. If you're lucky, you'll spot a table by the window and will be right next to the ice rink. If you're a fan of Two Boots, it's down there as well.
