What is the main difference in tops and pants?

I think the pants are longer so I would assume a top has longer sleeves. I don't recall much of a difference in the waist but that might be a bit wider as well. DD just outgrew this size so you would think I could remember...length was mostly the issue for us.

I found this on wikipedia (it was a table and the formatting is off but look at the last two numbers):

    Dimension/Size 1 2 3 4 5 6 6X
    Chest 20 21 22 23 24 25 25.5
    Waist 19.5 20 20.5 21 21.5 22 22.5
    Hip 24 25 26 26.5
    Height 31 34 37 40 43 46 48
    Back-waist length 8.25 8.5 9 9.5 10 10.5 10.75
    Finished dress length 17 18 19 20 22 24 25

The x is for slim fit. The waistband and overall width is narrower than the corresponding size. Or if you are my kid, the slim is still not slim enough!

7 is too long for my 8 year old. 6X fits just right. Heck, 6 still fits, but for her ego we go with 6X. Yes, she's itty bitty. Prices are sometimes cheaper too!
