  • Yogawear

Where do you gets yours and what are your recommendations? My trusted Gap pants are wearing out and I figured this is an opportunity to expand into a whole new territory. Plus I finally convinced my mom to give yoga a try and she really likes it, so I want to get her some passes and an outfit for Mother's Day.

My yoga place sells stuff but it's not a big selection and I'm not crazy about their current color pallet.

How about Prana or Lulu Lemon? I always go for black.

You can find Prana a lot of places, like REI.

Here is the Lulu Lemon site:
    http://www.lululemon.com/home

One of their fabrics can start to smell a bit funky and I can't remember which. Sorry! I'll try to think of it.

Athleta (http://www.athleta.com/jump.jsp?itemTyp ... pandID=208) or Title Nine would be a good place to look as well. You can search by activity on Title Nine but I don't think their web photos are that great.

      What's REI?

Lulu Lemon is cute but looks overpriced even on ebay.

Ok, sorry. Totally straight face. I'm loving that I can answer a clothing related question for you.

        http://www.rei.com

The stuff of your nightmares, I am certain. But you can get yoga gear there. Perhaps EMS is common in your area.

          I get a lot of my yoga stuff from http://www.titlenine.com, http://www.activa.com, http://www.athletica.com or http://www.lily.com.

It's not inexpensive but if you wash it on warm/gentle and hang dry- it'll last YEARS.

hee hee hee! No - the REAL stuff of her nightmares is

              http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... =cat601085

              or
              http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/store ... 07_08-_-na

those places freak me out, too. the stores are taxidermy central. REI is high-end fashion compared to Cabela's or Bass Pro!

                Re: Yogawear

Is there a reason why yogawear is so expensive? It's no longer just for yuppies. I'm all about looking good no matter what occassion but $50+ for essencially workout pants?

I'll checkout Overstock and Reebock/Nike/Addidas outlets nearby. I wonder if TJ Maxx and Marshals might have something.

LOL!!!! I read this thread and just about spit my coffee 6 feet!

I'll throw my hat into the ring for Athleta and/or Title 9. REI is a great suggestion too. You can get basic stuff for less there and the REI generic brand has always held up for me although I don't own any REI yoga stuff.

yes, they do - but like most things in there, it is hit or miss. However, if you do find some, I have to say that the several pieces I bought have held up well.

I also get my stuff from REI and titlenine. I have also found that now you can get yogawear pretty much anywhere that sells athletic-wear. I have bought pieces at the department store that are designed for yoga at 50-75% off when they have those sales.

So REI is really like LL Bean but with more workout vs just outdoors stuff. What's the big deal about REI?

I'd rather have the 3B's over any of that stuff any day. Lily's want to guess what they are?

Not quite LL Bean. If you are ever in Seattle, you ought to go to the REI flagship store there. Anyone else been there?

I've got to say that this was my first REI experience and even though I am not an outdoorsy person, I have loved REI ever since.

                          Re: Yogawear

I'm guessing the 3 Bs involve Bloomies and Barneys and I'm not sure what else.

REI is more like a sporting goods store meets LLBean. Sort of but I would say the clothing selection at REI is better. That is where I get all the kid's long underwear, ski gear and raincoats for them and us, etc. They sell bikes, bike gear, camping equipment, hiking boots, and the mandals of your dreams.

I saw that DC Jenn mentioned overstock.com -- you could try that. IMO, the more expensive stuff tends to hold up better and is a little more comfortable. I used to have a pair of mostly cotton yoga pants from Old Navy. They worked and I had them for a year or two and then I got a pair of Prana pants that I LOVED. The fabric stretched in a better way, the seams didn't bother me, and they held up for years.

I lived 5 minutes away from the flagship store for over 10 years. There's a play area in part of the store that's really cool if you're under 7 years old.

It's kind of like the Nordstroms of "practical" outdoor gear. I agree they are CONISDERABLY more fashionable than Cabellas or Gander Mountain for that matter. Those places FREAK ME OUT.

REI has hardcore outdoor stuff for people who REALLY want to experience what the area has to offer.

It also carries brands like Columbia, Life is Good, Patagonia -- stuff that is made to be durable and "do something" (cut wind, keep water out, etc.) but most of it is flattering. Patagonia has some styles that remind me a lot of Eileen Fisher -- not my style but you get the point. Sort of Granola meets Marc Jacobs.
