Nothing to add, DH really misses REI. There is a decent one in Minneapolis.

I LOVE Marmot and North Face! How could I have left those off my list!!!???

Living in the frozen tundra (we're supposed to get a blizzard this weekend ) I have a new appreciation for clothes that look fashionable but perform well. My $200.00 Padagonia long-but-slimming coat in a burnt orange color was worth every penny. When it's below 0 for months at at time I can still function without shivering!

OKAAAAAAYYYY -- missing the NW with a PASSION right now!!!!!! :tsk: Sorry for the hijack!

I've probably already mentioned this, but I come by my love of REI honestly - my mom's very proud that her member number is 4 digits. Reading the company history, it started up the year she was born.

We got all of our stuff to wear in Russia- the silks, the socks, the boots, etc at REI. Haven't had to wear it since but we were set in Siberia.

Rick also got the Chariot stroller there.

          Love REI.

Perhaps EMS is common in your area.
This is the best comparison for REI, I think. I often confuse the two. We used to go to one . . . or the other (I guess it was an EMS) . . . on the UWS off Broadway, but evidently it's closed now.

              Re: Yogawear

I just looked at the REI outlet site and there are no yoga pants. I think trying a Nike outlet is a good idea.

Here are some yoga pants on the Athleta sale page:
              http://www.athleta.com/shopping/product ... uctID=3996

I prefer something that is open at the leg and not so fitted. They have some other yoga pants on sale. Maybe like this:

              Or this:

              Lucy has cute stuff too:

I'm guessing the 3 Bs involve Bloomies and Barneys and I'm not sure what else.

                  Bergdorf Goodman...am I right!

                    Re: Yogawear

The three B's of NY for me will always be Bendel, Bergdorf and Barneys. Bloomies is more of a national chain.

Great idea! This is where I get most of my yoga clothes. Also, all the major brands (nike, adidas etc) sell yoga lines and outlets are a great place to look.
I love Prana, Lucy, Shiva Shakti and Marika. Patagonia makes really great yoga pants (serenity tights) and they last forever. expensive but they last a long time. they are without a doubt my favorite.

Honestly, I don't buy a lot of the yoga wear because it tends to hide a lot and it's too expensive. I love it though and there is so much cute, cute comfortable stuff!
When I teach yoga I prefer general workout clothes like Nike, Adidas etc because I really want my students to see my form (albeit chubby and lumpy!) So when I buy yoga wear it tends to be tight fitting tanks w/ built in bra and yoga pants/capris.

Marika! That is the other one I was trying to remember. They have cute stuff but I don't own any.

Somewhere I read about a yoga instructor lamenting people wearing black so often because it masks seeing their form and bodies. Which is pretty much why I like wearing black.

Along the same lines, capri yoga pants are preferred. Much easier to see the foot/ankle position.

While in NY over the weekend I ended up getting both myself and my mom capri workout pants in Uniqlo for $5.99. Now I'm kicking myself for not getting them in another color.
