what should I wear to...

a "Honeymoon in Hawaii" silent auction for our children's school. It will be a dinner, dance and silent auction on a Saturday night (without kids) at a nice venue.
And probably more difficult for me to figure out - what should dh wear? He's a bit of a conservative dresser (surprised ? ) but does have a vintage 1960s sharkskin suit he likes to wear on occasion... so he'll possibly do a little something fun if I suggest it. Oh, he has an awesome bermuda hat he could wear. But, he may not be up for a Hawaiian shirt.

I am rethinking whether I may be able to find a Hawaiian shirt that dh would wear. This website has some that may work for him, the silk aloha shirts that have a vintage feel in particular. The problem is that those have the interesting part on the back - so they wouldn't work with a suit. Otherwise, a subtle Hawaiian print that he could wear with his sharkskin suit...

I am the wrong person to be answering this although my husband is pathologically shy- I say in those situations go loud and proud. and I have even gotten Mr. talk to no one to at least WEAR loud.

Oooooooooo!!! I just remembered I have the perfect dress to go with that look - it's an early 60s party dress with a big skirt and it's bright purple with gigantic tropical purple flowers all over it.... but it's in our storage space - - ahhhhhhh!!!
