  • Suit help

My husband bought this jacket and the matching slacks.

I'm conflicted about it. He needs something really quick for a 4-day long interview situation later this week. He may need to go out to eat, and he only has one dark brown wool suit. So, he picked up this get-up on his way home.

    Any thoughts?

How about pairing the jacket with jeans?

The tags are still on it. Actually, dh can wear it off the rack! He doesn't need to get it altered at all! If we find something between now and Monday, then we can return this, and still have enough time to find something else.

    Is it a weird suit?

That is helpful. An honest response is the best!

The thing is, we hit the upper 70s here yesterday, and the ACs haven't been turned on in most buildings yet.

      We'll keep looking. Thanks!

        Thanks, Lily.

I went to TJ Maxx, and they don't carry any blazer/sport jacket dealies. They had only a few suits. Dh is on call tomorrow and again on Monday, so we won't be able to get anything until Tuesday.

        I'll call around.

Here's hoping that he can buy something off the rack!

Pretty much agree with Lily's comments. Is there a Syms in Chicago? He definitely needs 2 suits and the link you posted is not an interview suit. Sometimes BR or JCrew can have good sales. One of DH's suits is from BR and he also has a black jacket from there that can be paired with plain black pants in a pinch. I'm a bit against wearing jeans on an interview trail unless it's a very casual sporting event.

re: the jeans. If they're going out for dinner at a pub or pizza joint (DH had a "dinner" there during Chicago-area interviews for residency) then jeans are more appropriate than a suit. But that is the only time I would wear anything that casual during interviews - just to clarify!
Yes, it would be just for a pub or pizza place. Chicago is full of both!
