  • MOMS. . .spring and summer

Sorry. I would love to add to Lily's post on wardrobe desires but it's not practical. I would love to hear what the moms out there are going to be wearing for the spring/summer. I know that we had a long discussion last year about how moms should be stylish, etc, etc but I think we all decided that it's VERY impractical to dress stylish when you are nursing, chasing toddlers at the park, and drawing hopskotch on the driveway with messy chalk.

    So ---

I want one of these shoes. Or both. Vishenka/Lily - are they OK? Which ones are better?

And these shorts. Are they OK? They meet my requirements of being practical and fairly modest but are they too Mom? But then again, they are on Anthropologie so they can't be too bad, right?

Ok... don't laugh... I bought these. Not something I would normally do, but I love them.

My mom friends have all said they would wear them. Not sure if they makes them geeks like me or not.

I hate buying shorts, the burmadas/walking shorts that are currently popular just make me look like an overweight elephant. (I'm an 8/10 depending on the brand and am 5'9" - so not overweight at all.) I actually think swimsuit shopping is easier.

I'm giving up on shorts. I just gave away every pair of shorts I owned except for two pair. I'm switching to skirts fulltime for public outings. I have some horrible shorts that I wear in the house/yard that the best that can be said for them is that they're comfortable.

I don't want short shorts, I dont need pockets or pleats. I want linen or cotton that hit slightly lower than mid-thigh. I don't want a low-rider waist, I don't want a high waist. Therefore, I'm throwing in the towel because no one is designing for me.

Amen. I don't want dowdy, I don't want skimpy. I'm 34 and want to look stylish, but not like a teenager, nor a frumpy matron. I think I will have to jump on the skirt/dress bandwagon. Maybe June Cleaver had it right after all...

I agree with Lily on the above. I'm not a huge fan of shorts myself. The only time I found a pair I really loved was in Bloomies and they were about $100, so I passed. But I'll start the search yet again this season. For now skirts/dresses it is.

You can't live in South Texas and not be a fan of anything that gets air to the nether regions. It's too f-ing hot here.

Yes, which is why you looked way better than me when we met. I was so unprepared for the TX heat.

For some reason I feel like I want to dress in a more feminine way than usual now....I love the thought of wearing dresses, but they are so not practical for nursing! But, I did buy two skirts, both cotton and reach just below the knee.
Mostly though, I stick to my usual shorts/capri's and T-shirts.
These are my new go-to shoes (yes they are Birks, but girly birks!). I have the white ones:

I really like both the shoes you posted Fair Queen

I like both shoes, too, Fair Queen. If I were only getting one pair, I'd probably get the pair you can just step into. Because who has time to tie their shoes. :P
