  • shoe advice

I bought a dress in a white and royal blue print for a wedding I'm attending in a couple weeks (or I might wear it to the rehearsal dinner..not sure yet). What color shoe should I buy to go with it? Is the whole primary colors thing in? Would a yellow or red shoe work? Or should I try to match the blue or get white?

Side question (and this is a very ignorant one): Is it appropriate to wear black to an evening wedding?

I'm scrambling to put together some outfits to cover this baby belly which is growing so fast this time around!

    THANKS!

    Re: shoe advice

Someone else might have to answer the shoe question, I don't know much about the colored shoe trend. My instinct would be to go for shoes to match the blue in the dress.

Yes, black is an appropriate color to wear to an evening wedding. Do you know anyone else who is going? You might ask them what colors they intend on wearing. Anytime I attended an evening wedding, it made me feel better to discuss outfits with family members and friends who were going. That way I knew I wasn't the only person in black.

I hope that you find something in a great color that makes you feel (and look) awesome!

Can you post a pic of the dress?

I have wore black to 99% of the weddings I attended (there were only 2 exceptions) regardless of the time it took place. But hey in NY women wear black on Easter. As for the shoe to match your white and blue dress, I would go with a strappy neutral that you'll get a lot of wear out of. Neutral could be either silvery or gold or beige or taupe, depending on your preference.

Thanks for the responses. I may try to post a pic, but honestly I'm a little embarassed to because I'm not too thrilled about the dress. There weren't many maternity dresses in town to choose from (and I'm on a very tight budget), so I just finally went with something so I could stop dragging my cranky 2 year old to the stores.

It is an evening wedding for DH's cousin down in south Louisiana. People here aren't too fashion forward or extremely dressy, so I think I'll be fine.... I just wanted to at least match though. I'll probably go with some camel/taupe colored shoes.....I have really weak ankles so I can't do much of a heel, but I'll get the highest I can handle!

I haven't even considered accessories yet. Maybe next trip to Target.

          Again, thanks for the advice!
