I would like to get dh a couple of pairs of really nice looking clogs for Christmas this year. I know, Dansko's right? He can't wear them. Theyare way too narrow. I need nice looking, really comfortable, professional, slip on clogs for DH in brown and black. They need to be up to the task of the OR, but they have to be able to be worn with dress clothes too.

I know, I am a PITA. In the past, he has worn Merrill's, but they can be hard to find, and his are showing their wear. Help!

How dressy? DH has some timberlands with smart wool insides that I just bought him at Dillards last month. He wears them with khakis when he rounds on weekends.

Birkentocks?? Mephistos?? maybe? However, other than the danskos & crocs, I do not know of any other clogs whee you can wash away any grime?

DH wore his danskos in peds because although they were leather, you could wash away any vomit.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Are there any that are dressy enough? They need to be able to be worn with dress pants, shirt and tie, as well as scrubs in the OR. Yes, they need to be able to be degrimed. Crocs are definitely not dressy enough.

DH has very large feet 15E We went through this last year and found the perfect pair. He wears the Dunham slip on shoes in the hospital and says it keeps his feet really comfortable and he can wear them with suits, jeans etc. He got them in black and brown. Here is a link through Zappos....these are not the identical copies of his shoes but very close. http://zeta.zappos.com/product/7330060/color/6

My dh loves ecco for comfort. They're light as air and he's worn them in the hospital for years, so they're durable.

A friend of ours (nephro) wears his birk clogs almost every day with his shirt and tie. They are by far not dressy shoes but you can get away with them as much as a Dansko. My DH wears his birks too - his are shoes though - to work. Still, not sure how they hold up to hospital funky grime. I will say this - Birks back up their product. When DH left his sandals in the car and the cork sole warped off from the summer heat, we sent them back and it was replaced for a small fee (really, it was small).

So, if you ever have to hose your DH's off, I am sure that any damage can be repaired.

I tried to see if Zappos carried the Ralph Lauren Mule that DH has (he wears his in the cath lab),they don't... but take a look at this selection!

                      Re: Clogs

I have a Merrell clog that I wear that I LOVE - I bought it when I was pg and none of my shoes fit. It could easily be worn with dressier things and I'm sure there is something similar for men.

I wear the Privo clogs by Clarks. I remember there were men's at the store when I bought them, but I didn't see any men's on the site I just checked....I also didn't find the ones I wear either.

I used to have a pair of Modellista Clogs that I liked....they were like these but not shiny.

***Totally my opinion here, but I think it's kinda gross to wear the same clogs around and about in the clinic/outside and in the OR. I think all surgeons should have a separate pair of shoes that are only for use in the OR to decrease contamination....ya know when you change into your scrubs for surgery, you slip into the surgery shoes. Anyway, just my opinion.

I totally agree - DH leaves his clogs at the hospital, I haven't seen them in YEARS and he says he's never bringing them home just tossing them when he needs new ones.
