  • **OFFICIAL**christmas party HELP thread **OFFICIAL**

i'll start. i'm hoping that what i have in my closet will pass lilly and julies fashionista radar/test.

i have a gray cashmere scoop neck sweater. it's long sleeve. i have a pair of black dress pants.

if i get a red cami and red heels, along with a silver necklace and earings....will that work?

please say yes. (i haven't tried these things on together yet. i'm assuming they will look okay  )

i have lost about 35 lbs now, and i can wear a 14/16. i still hate my shoulders, i still have mommy saggy tummy, and my boobs are about the same...a D.

if you're dress looking for me, keep my shoulders covered and a V neck...so i can lift the girls and have some cleavage....my only asset.

I'm not Lilly or Julie but I think that sounds great!

I'm planning to wear a red blouse I have with black pants, of course I realized I need a new pair of black pants b/c of none of my pre-pregnancy dress pants fit - ack!

I'm off the hook. DH isn't able to go to the holiday party this year. I'm disappointed, b/c I wanted to get to know some of the people here better. But... I can't fit into any of my holiday clothes yet either!

I think your outfit sounds like it will look nice!

I think my DH is avoiding the Christmas party, claiming he doesn't know about it, like he did last year. He is so anti-social! I guess I am sort of glad because it would stress me out, especially with the baby, and sort of pissed that I will not have had a single reason to dress up this year.
          This year as in 2008.

Anyway, nothing to add but congrats on the weight loss Sylvia, I am sure you will look fabulous!

            Congrats on the weight loss!

I think your outfit sounds fine and I'd put the dress money towards Lily's suggestion of a good bra and/or spanx. There is a Spanx knock-off at Target...something Assets?

I'm wearing a red, knit twinset with red beading on the trim, paired with black dress pants and heels. Hopefully that will be fine, I don't really have anything else too "Christmas-ey" and don't want to spend money on something new.

Well, knowing the peds department, they haven't even started planning it yet. Last year it was way the hell out in the boonies at some farm so I got to wear jeans and a festive shirt. (that was the only good part)

                We'll see for this year.

Yikes! I hadn't even thought of this! I don't even know if I'll be in town for it. Is it awful that MrsK is absent from these things? I don't want them to think I'm unsupportive.

I just found out that a couple of ours (apparently this place usually has 2-3 at various attendings' houses - but maybe funded by the dept???) were canceled, also. And for the one that they are hosting, people are supposed to bring their own alcohol this year.

I think people understand. I think it's good to get to know our spouses' coworkers, but there are plenty of other ways to do that.

Actually, I think I can make up for it. I'll have the interns over to our place while I'm in town, taking in strays for thanksgiving, etc.

Our Xmas party is at a country club too. Last year and at graduation [that's at a CC too] most wore cocktail ["little black dress"] dresses. The older folks wore the black pants with blouse or sweater combo. I didn't want to buy a dress either but I couldn't fit any of mine. I ended getting a dress at Anthropologie and hopefully I'll be able to take it in, one day...

Lily, how about getting a pretty cardigan to wear with the dress? I'm thinking cashmere and/or something embellished. That will cover your arms, disguise last years' dress, and you can wear the cardigan again with jeans, slacks, skirts, whatever for other parties. . .
