I loved my pair of contour jeans from BR. They stopped making them stretch jeans, and I don't like them anymore.

I'm surprised that some of you are able to hold onto your jeans for a long time - mine always show signs of wear. I shouldn't wear jeans to work, other than a dark rinse, and after several washes (or trips to the dry cleaner), they just aren't the same...

      Re: Jeans

Kelly, I chose styles that I knew already were likely to fit based on trying them on in store....and I was planning to return the ones that didn't. But when I shop online I'm well aware of how many items I usually end up returning (at least half).

That is because I wash my jeans about every 10th wear unless they show obvious dirt.

I very rarely dry clean anything.

Gotcha - as soon as I typed my post, I realized that it has to do with all the washing and drying that I do. I sit on the dirty city bus everyday, so I have to wash my stuff more often.

No kidding. The 2 pairs of Lucky Brand jeans I just bought? Two different sizes!!! So annoying!

              Re: Jeans

I wear Citizens Brand, Kelly Boot Cut.

I went into an expensive jeans store here in Boston, tried on a bunch, decided that Citizens fit me best, left the store and bought them new for $60 on Ebay. They retail for $140 or so. With tailoring (necessary when you're 5'0''), they come to about $80-$90 total but they last for 2-3 years.

I would DEFINITELY encourage this approach - they're ALWAYS cheaper and you can find a huge selection just knowing your size / style / style number.

Jean shopping is up there with bathing suit shopping for me. Makes me :badday:
I have exactly ONE pair that fit right now - gap boot cut stretch. I am short [only 5'2] but I got the regular length and they fit

                  Re: Jeans

I've got one pair from ANN Taylor (my dressy blue jeans)
2 Pairs from Eddie Bauer that I got on sale for 19.99 ea and get compliments on then all the time. I do not have a behind and these have pockets that must make me look "normal" because different friends have complimented me when I wear them.

AND for gardening/painting/cleaning around the house (you know - all those things that dawkter's wife are not supposed to do), I wear Levi 515s. They are stretchy and comfortable. I do have to wear a belt though - otherwise they tend to want to fall off - get kind of stretch out by the end of the day. I guess that's why they are so comfy.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

                    Re: Jeans

My jeans last for a couple of years too but I also try not to wash them too much. Although for me the ickiness factor is a plane ride vs a bus. The two pairs I've had for years and loved were Jean Paul Damage (snagged on sale at Last Call for $50) and an old 7 bootcut fit (the new bootcut is completely different for some reason), also snagged on sale but at Bloomies for $60. After years of devoted wear, they have both nice rips at the place were my extremely toned thighs meet. I found this place though, http://www.denimtherapy.com and will be happy to volunteer myself as the official iMSN tester. As soon as I find time to go to the Post Office.

For now I got a pair of Lucky jeans on sale ($55) to keep me from the elements. I also got 5 40% off coupons if anyone wants one (there's also a code to use online).

Alison, if you can wait until after Christmas, many stores will be having huge sales, that's how I snagged my 7 pair.

Also, if anyone comes across a Jean Paul Damage pair in 30, please let me know. I can't find this label anywhere.

                      Re: Jeans

I'm a poor student right now, so I bought two pairs of sweetheart style Old Navy Jeans: 1 flare and 1 bootcut (also when Old Navy had jeans for $12) and they are great for me! I am curvy as well--I have a booty and hips! I'm 5'3'' so the short and regular worked for me oddly enough. They regular is just a tad bit long--only 1/2 inch longer. Works well with heels.

I particularly like Replay but also tend to go for the Diesel and Energie brands when I go shopping for jeans.

Any opinion regarding J Crew jeans? My J Crew "favorite fit" cords are really comfortable; They don't stretch out and slipp off my hips like the Lucky Jeans and they don't slip down in the back when I sit. If I could only find jeans like that! Do the J Crew jeans fit like their cords?

When I first met my husband, he wore Replay jeans that were SO tight (German tight) that I thought he had to paint them on each morning.

Ahem. I fear that may be a European thing rather than exclusively German. Having a pair like that is a good way of making us aware that we need to lose a few pounds.
