has anyone found shorts for little girls where their butt isn't hanging out? My 7 and 5 year olds aren't ready for any Nair commercials yet!

Sorry to hijack but isn't it crazy how skanky little girls' clothing are these days? It seems that as soon as they get out of the 2-7 sizes, they are thrust into the slutty side of the Juniors department. I half lost my mind looking for a department store dress for my then 8yo flowergirl. We were looking at Christmas time and everything in her size was super inappropriate. I'm talking red glitter spandex halter dresses. I don't get it.Wife and #1 Fan of Attending Adult & Geriatric Psychiatrist.

Thanks. I will check out Gymboree. I have a store credit. Circle of Friends is coming up next week. I haven't been in there recently because Avery likes Justice for their shirts. Eventhough I have a 40% coupon, I will not be buying their shorts.Needs

I haven't had any luck at Target lately...it's all covered with glittery funk. WTH? I get most of the girls' stuff at Gymboree and Janie & Jack. Try Old Navy...I've found some nice length (plain!) shorts there too, as well as cute, longish, inexpensive dresses.
Who buys that crap, anyway?

The clothes for teen girls are even more scary. Check out the shorts I saw in Abercrombie yesterday:

I hate to say it, but you're mis-remembering daisy dukes if you think those are shorter than hers were. Not that I think any of them are in good taste or anything.
ETA: Looking at the abercrombie ones again, I'm pretty sure the difference is that the waist is lower. So you're right; she might think twice about them.Attached FilesLast edited by poky; 05-08-2009, 08:27 AM.Sandy

The pictures don't do them justice. I was in the store and these things are about 4-5 inches in total length. I've seen bikini bottoms with more fabric. I particularly like that the crotch is the longest part of the short. The sides angle up significantly. And.....$50. We are in the wrong business.Angie
