  • Frizzy Hair Help

I think it's a combination of a rainy-er than usual summer and my attempt to have healthier hair by not using a straightening iron every day (yes, I did that for years...), but my hair has been really frizzy lately. Do you have any anti-frizz products or styling tips you can recommend? Remember, we're in residency, so while I'm sure the salon brands would be better, I don't really have more than about $10-$15 to spend, so keep the suggestions cheap! Thanks!

I have thick hair that tends to frizz, so I straighten and use smoothing products.

Here's the shampoo and conditioner. It's Matrix sleek look.

More on the pricey side, but good to know about for future reference. I use it on my wet hair prior to drying and straightening.

I have thin, naturally curly hair that tends to frizz regardless of the climate. I love Control Freak Serum by Bed Head. It's about $12 for an 11 oz bottle. Don't be deceived; one bottle will last you a long time. You can find it at salons and at most drug stores. I just work a nickle sized dollop into my hair when it is almost fully air-dried and it takes care of the frizzies without making my hair sticky or weighing it down.

It's also great for when I blow dry my hair straight. Just a nickle sized dollop when my hair is semi-dry. It's silicone based so it also protects my hair from the heat and keeps it healthy.

Stop washing your hair everyday with shampoo. Buy twice the amount of conditioner and wash your hair with conditioner instead. After 2 days, your hair will improve. I can only go 4 days without shampoo washing but I had a freind that could go a month and her hair did look fab.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Totally agree with this. I can go a month without shampooing. My other secret product is carrot creme. It's $3-4 a jar, which lasts me about 2 months for chin length hair or 1 month for shoulder length. The only problem is that I've been unable to find it outside of NY, so I stock up when I'm there.

Interesting... I've always washed my hair every day with shampoo and conditioner. I'll try that tomorrow and probably pick up some of the products recommended this weekend. Thank you everyone!!!

Forgot to mention that every once in a while I try to just rinse without shampoo or conditioner. Shampoo strips your hair of natural oil hence making it frizzier. Conditioners tend to be gentler on hair than shampoos.

Yea washing and drying it everyday is hard on it. I can go about a week. BioSilk is my favorite product. I use it everyday. I have really thick, course, dry curly hair. It tames it. I think that Target or Walmart sells it. I love it, and can not leave home with out it.

I've been using a combination of Redken's Align and Redken's Glass and it works wonderfully!

I have thick curly hair and also wash with conditioner. I use shampoo every once in a while. I also leave the conditioner in.

John Freida's Frizz Ease also helps, but isn't cheap. It is available in the big box stores.

I wash my hair every other day and use Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine shampoo and conditioner. I can tell a difference when I use it ... but I still have to blow it dry using a round brush to get it frizz free.

Just FYI, I have wavy hair that is very thick.

My 2 yr old has wild curls. I've had a lot of success with Frieda's taming creme. It was a little less than $5 at Target.

PS - I tried not shampooing after the last time we all talked about it...yikes. The first day of not washing (I only rinsed in the shower) my hair was ropey and greasy. Ick. Is there a secret?

I tried too. Day 1 was okay. Today is day 2 ... day 3 will involve shampoo for SURE. Today looked like I hadn't bothered to bathe at all ... do you not re-apply your hair product??
