I can't wait to see pictures. I always dread going to these types of things, but usually have a great time once I'm there. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to meeting your DH's better half.

      Done! (I think).

The mulit-colored dress was as awful as you all predicted. What can I say? I needed to try it just b/c it would have doubled nicely for Indian events.

The brown floor length was nice, but the horizontal bands from mid-thigh down really didn't do anything good for me, nor did the form hugging design. Even all spanxed up I would have looked a lot like a sausage, and it's strapless.

The dress I like is this http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3012918?...=keywordsearch . The neckline is very flattering, the sleeves are just the right length to hide the worst of my arms, and the raised waistline does wonders. It will also double nicely for a fancy Christmas party or something (I was worried about the functionality of the floor length one for any future use).

I'll post a picture later (no one here to take my picture right now). Should I order #2 just to compare??

          I like it!
Can you post the link again for #2? I lost track of which one that is.

I like that one! I can see how it would be very flattering.

Why not go ahead and order #2 for comparison...get it in the plum!

Ok, I went back and found #2. I like that one too. Since it is so easy to order, I'd compare but the one you've got looks great. I really like the neckline on the one you have.

Oooooh, that last one you posted--the lace and taffeta one -- is really nice. I think the neckline is flattering and the cut will also be lovely. It's something I think you will be very comfortable wearing! It looks very versatile, too.

I am late in joining in on this thread. However, I love the last dress you just posted. I think it would look great on you. I like it over #2 IMHO.

I might just go ahead and order it. I'm also thinking I might need to order the one I decide on in the next size down & then decide which size to wear closer to the date. I was able to put on the one I ordered - spanx free - today, and I've been hitting the gym pretty hard and most of my regular clothes are getting quite baggy. Nordstrom has such a good return policy - as long as the very conspicuously placed tag is still there, they'll take it back.

Next we need to talk undergarments. I know I need spanx. Do I need another kind of slip? Also - hoisery. Sheer black or do I need to go get a spray tan?

The next hurdle will be shoes. I'm apparently going to spend the next month trying to find black pumps I can actually walk in. I've got wide feet (of course), no arch, and bad knees.

                          Great choice!

I also prefer it to #2, at least from the catalog pictures. Maybe you will have use for both?

I prefer to buy as I need. I wouldn't keep both, but might just go ahead and order it for comparison's sake. Plus, Davita is mad that I've already returned the other two.

I need shoe suggestions from the shoe nazis. I'm willing to spend actual money on a pair of shoes IF I can actually WEAR them and not be miserable. The dress I kept was the cheapest of the 3 I ordered (by about $70!), and I really don't care if I spend another $200 on a pair of shoes.

Score! I just noticed that the dress I'm keeping is now actually on sale -- 33% off! I called and Nordstrom gave me a credit on the phone. I love that store.

Now what do you think of these?

Plus, since I ordered it on ebates, I got $24 back from my original order! At this point, the dress is costing me less than $100.

I like the other 2 better then those last 2.
