I'm sorry , but I agree w/Julie; I got a "mother of the bride shoe vibe" from them. Her words were more on target.

The reason I chose the MaryJane higher heel for you was multifactorial: comfort & stability, since you said you don't normally wear heels.

I also felt that they have a vintage air about them... a little bit of an edge compared to the run of the mill pumps... I thought it would suit you.

I also figured since you wear mandals that the smaller strap wouldn't be a problem?

The rounder toe and the chunky heel paired with a dress or skirt makes them matronly. They would be much better with a pant. Skirts/dresses call for more feminine style, at least for me they do.

Can you do a kitten heel? (much easier to walk in- as I can attest.)

My feet hurt for two weeks after my last heel experiment- and oddly enough the shoes themselves are really comfortable while on- but I guess are doing evil things underneath the surface!

I always take a relief pair of shoes w/me when I have to wear heels.

Okay - I found shoes and accessories. The accessories are costing me quite a bit more than the dress, and I'm up to about $170 in credits in my ebates account for all of my ordering (blush).

BUT - I ended up getting the shoes slightly bigger, and am wondering what kind of inserts to get to keep my feet from slipping around. I did keep the shoes I like (the ones you called matronly), but Davita has seen them and can attest that they're really not.

AND, I went in to Nordstrom today to get fitted for a bra ... turns out I'm 2 cups sizes bigger and 6" smaller across the back then the bras I was buying. Great suggestion, Davita. I know the smaller across the back is at least partially due to the weight I've lost, but, uh, I'm not even nursing all that much anymore, so I can't explain the DD cup ...

ETA: I was wearing a 36 C when I went to the chi-chi bra store in DC only to discover that I was in fact a 36 DD. I was stunned. and I was the flat girl, even through college!

Okay - now the dress is TOO BIG! Yay and GAAAAAAAAAAH! Davita was just here critiquing the outfit and kept saying "You have to fix that, it's bugging me, it's hanging on you." And she's right.

I tried to order it in the next size down, just in case, but they don't have it! Now I have to get it altered.

the accessories work, except for the necklace which keeps falling into my cleaveage. I'll be heading to nordstrom this afternoon to figure out the alterations anyway ...

Oh - and we've decided on a different pair of shoes. Hopefully these meet with everyone's approval (although they're still peep toe), but less rounded and have a buckle, not a bow.

That is the right problem to have! You'll probably get a better overall fit with having it altered anyway. I like the jewelry.

The dress being too big is a good problem to have, I completely agree. I like these shoes better, they have a higher heel. Jewelry is very pretty too.

As for mask, I'm still thinking Venetian. A search on Amazon produced tons of options.

I agree -- that's a good problem to have! As annoying as it is that they don't have the dress in your size, by getting the dress you have altered, you're assured a better fit!
