Baby Bargains is already in my Amazon cart. I'm not having a shower because it's just too complicated to figure out the logistics in the winter. All our friends and family are in NY/NJ and it might be a problem getting here that day/weekend and I don't want to make NJ people go to NY or NY ones go to NJ because ultimately someone won't be happy about it and I'll have to go to either place (about 1.5 hours away).

I'm planning on having a registry but not putting big items like crib or stroller on it. If our parents want to get that, great but I'm not making anyone else shell out that much on my gift.

      Ah, Julie-

you forget one thing- it's just like getting married (without the booze or fun dress)- people are going to want to have a shower for you.

Can you have one appointed NJ person and one appointed NY person and they can each host a small shower?

Manage it now because otherwise you'll end up with 10 diaper bags.

Ah, but Russians aren't into showers and the only people who cared about my bridal one were my friends. These same friends for the most part have kids and would at this point prefer to just order something from the registry and ship it to me. MIL didn't even invite anyone from her side to my bridal shower because she didn't see the point. And the thought of having to go to both places in the middle of winter while huge, isn't very appealing. Actually, I'm pretty sure that both my mom and MIL are relieved that I don't want a shower. Their Jewish superstitious side is still not very comfortable with the fact that I'm planning on buying things in advance.

It's annoying buying all this baby stuff to me. Even tho I wanted to get pregnant and have a baby for over year... when the time came to buy all this stuff... it just seems like a big chore and not fun times shopping. It's stressful and expensive. I WISH I could enjoy it, but my back hurts most days and I-don't-wanna-do-it. OK, end of my sympathy rant!

I'd suggest you sign up for the Babies R Us email sales. They will mail you good coupons, email you good coupons, and notify you of every sale. I'd also suggest you start looking at the Sunday paper for weekly baby stuff sales or checking the websites. Like everyone said, baby stuff doesn’t really go on sale at normal times- but it DOES eventually go on sale. I like your idea of starting an online registry. If nothing else it will keep you organized.
