what color shoe?

i'm thinking silver metallic...but what do i know?

i have a navy blue skirt with a faint silver-ish (?) pinstripe. my blouse is a wine-ish color and silk-ish.

i don't really like navy shoes. yuck. so, what say you?

Sounds like almost any color shoe would work with that outfit. Silver would be fine. So would brown or beige or oxblood.

I'd go more conservative than silvery and go with the oxblood/wine spectrum.

and if you happen to be heading to smaller towns or places that are already getting colder, go with a closed toe. You want to be professional in your Mrs. Dr. get-up.

If you were coming to San Antonio where we're celebrating our cold snap of it only being 90 degrees, you could go with an open toed shoe.

why yes...yes it is. i do want a closed toe...i never thought of brown i tried matching the shirt color...not much luck. (and without spending a fortune!)

so...i have to look nice, presentable, and comfortable.

I love a nice pair of silver shoes.

If you follow man-rules, your shoes just have to be darker than your bottom and match your belt. So when wearing navy, that usually translates to black shoes.

How tall do you like them, and what's your size and price range? I can look around online...

What about skintone neutral so you can wear them with any outfit? They will also elongate your leg and make you look taller and slimmer.

No! Remember when I was looking for a sweater to go over my black dress? This summer? Come on lily! You told me the navy blue cardigan was a no! Lol!
I'll have to look around. I'm free of kids tomorrow. Maybe a trip to the discount store is in order (I'm cheap. No 9west for me. Not yet, anyway )

Sylvia, don't go too light though. If choosing between ivory and camel, go with camel. Ivory might look too bridal (depends on the shoe though). Good luck shoe shopping. Another option is www.zappos.com, they have free shipping both ways.

Haha, Navy cardigan with a black dress is not a good idea, but black shoes are totally allowed with navy clothes (because of the man rule that shoes should be at least as dark as the suit - GQ Style Guy.) If it's a must for men, it's okay for women. But we have more choices.

And since we have more choices, I like Vishenka's suggestion on the nude shoes. They're very versatile.

I think camel would look great because it will pick up on the warmer tones in the top.

and for those who are stuck on the color spectrum, camel is that really pretty brownish color between beige and brown. NOT light brown though because there are horrid light browns.
