  • in need of shoes for fall

Lily, Vishenka, anyone?! I'd like to buy a stylish pair of shoes for fall. Either flats or kitten heels that don't scream MOM, and will make me feel good about myself when wearing mom clothes with dried up spit-up . I live in a sunny, warm climate (rarely rains). As I spend a good deal of time holding the kid, I don't want to take any risks with high heels.

I have thick calves, and don't know if I could do boots. But I would LOVE to.

    Help?

I'm a fan of Sofft shoes, they are SO cute! I've tried them on, but never bought a pair as they are $$. BUT, you can find them at TJ Max/Marshalls sometimes. I've just never lucked out in my size:

A little bit of a splurge (but really not that bad for quality shoes, imo)...

      http://www.kennethcole.com/family/in...075190.3075225

I tried on the pumps this weekend and ohmygoodness! Sooo comfortable! Hello, arch support!

I imagine the flats are comfy as well.

Bad news? They're back-ordered for a month. But, Kenneth Cole shoes normally take 5 months to produce, so it's probably just that the stores short-ordered this fall b/c of the economic downturn and just have more on the way.

They have them in stores (one of each size) to try on, though!

For even more of a splurge, I suggest Tory Burch. I know they're so cliche - every soccer mom has a pair. But they're really comfortable! Personally, I have the hardest time with ballet flats and have gone through a dozen or so that give me blisters and such. Finally, I splurged and it was well worth it. I mean, one pair of $200 shoes is cheaper than a dozen pairs of $25 shoes....

Thanks! I like the Sofft boots on that site!

One problem with flats is that often they can be too flat. That's the case with Kenneth Cole for me. The pumps might actually be more comfortable than the flats!!!

Of course Jenn/Jane doesn't need to hear that right now.

Wait, too flat inside or out? Because the new 925 style makes the insides more comfortable. Granted, I didn't try the flats on, but they were seriously the most comfortable dress shoes I've ever tried on!
On of my fashion school friends works for Kenneth Cole corporate in womens shoes and handbags... Hoping he can get me a deal! (but doubting as much as these are seriously hot )

Alison, if you like those, you'd probably like the Indigo brand by Clarks. They are VERY cute too and REALLY comfy when you put them on. I almost bought a pair of the CUTEST red heels over the summer, but they were out of my size!

This is the pair I almost bought, as they were on sale but alas not in my size...

I've had very good experience with JCrew, Cole Haan and Stuart Weitzman flats (as in I can walk in them all day with bare feet). Cole Haan also has a separate line now that has Nike Air technology in them and tend to be more comfortable.

              What's your budget?

I'd be wearing the shoes with jeans. I've got a dark brown trench coat, and I think that's all I'll need in the winter as well. I'm a little afraid of knee high boots, because in short. I might risk looking like Elmer Fudd.

My budget is $150 for shoes, but if you find something super cute or if you find boots, I'm willing to pay a bit more.

                Are metallics still in?
                Thanks!

Oh wait, I meant Kenneth Cole flats can be a bit too flag for me. Sorry, I got my labels mixed up!

I luuuv Cole Haan Nike Air shoes. So much that I just myself a pair from Dillards that was 70% off. So, I got them for $45. (Don't know if you have a Dillards where you are) I am putting them away for now until my current pair look bad. I wear them all year long - they are also my traveling shoes. So, even at paying full price - they are a good deal.
Got these in black leather instead of suede.Although suede would be very fall-ish.

I like those flats! Red would be cute.

I like #3, Vishenka. Thanks for the ideas!

                        Any b*tch boot ideas?

I'm actually thinking of ordering #3 for myself, just having a hard time deciding on color.

By boots, do you mean short or tall? If you primarily wear pants, I'd suggest short, as you don't need extra warmth in CA.
