  • Diaper Bag

I don't even know where to start. I want a diaper bag that doesn't scream "I'm a diaper bag!" Basically I want to look like one inside (washable with all the right compartments) but on the outside. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.

    Criteria:
    - look good, can pass for a large purse/tote
    - not clash with the orange/black stroller we were gifted
    - not be too girly, so DH can carry it (or alternatively suggest a cheaper manly option)
    - not be completely black
    - have appropriate pockets/compartments
    - not cost more than $250

    Thanks.

I don't know if this will meet all requirements (girly, Dh-able) but I really like the Fleurville bag I have. It is a little big though, wish I had done the smaller messenger style. I *think* I have the mothership. Or the re-run. Oh wait, maybe I wish I had the Re-Run.

I had kind of similar criteria but a lower price limit ($100). I still haven't found anything that I really like but here are some of the ones I was considering:

This one's over your price range but maybe you can shop around and find it cheaper?

Kind of liked this one in champagne but didn't love it.

Here are some more I was thinking about (but don't fit the DH requirement):

Yes, I put this one on my registry http://www.skiphop.com/product/21500.html (same one that Ravenclaw sort of liked but didn't love). I'm feeling the same way about it but probably won't know what I want until I use it.

I do like the flerville ones that Nellie posted. Also, Kate Spade / Coach and a few other high-end retailers DO make diaper bags if you're willing to shell out the $.

Honestly, I find diapers bags unnecessary. If you don't want one then just go find a bag you like and use that. I have had more diaper bags than I can count and never found them to be any better than a good sized purse. You can also keep a small bag in the car with a few diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes (a few snacks as baby gets older), and you're good to go.

If you want to go the diaper bag route then check this out http://www.petuniapicklebottom.com/c...ns/index/bags/ I've never had one of these but think they are super cute. As far as buying a more "manly" diaper bags, skip it. "Manly" diaper bags just look like diaper bags made for guys. There is nothing unmanly about carrying a diaper bag no matter what color it is. Plus, when you are trying to get from point A to point B diaper bag color will likely be the last thing your hubby is thinking about.

I love JuJuBe - Be All and Be Small (which is now 'retired') were the ones I loved the most.

Now I just use the Land's End Little Tripper (in black).

Just got my co-worker the "Diaper Dude" since he had told me that he and his wife keep arguing about what is "necessary" in the diaper bag - he now has his own manly bag.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

I don't have any specific suggestions, and I'm pretty sure it's not fashionable in anyway ... but I really like using a backpack-style bag. It keeps both hands free to wrangle baby/car seat/grocery bags/stroller/whatever without constantly sliding off my shoulder. And DH likes it too. Just a thought...

ETA: And Tara's right. You don't need a bag that's specifically sold as a "diaper bag". Right now my "diaper bag" is an old backpack that I used to use in college!

I like that this bag was on the DiaperDude's website...no wonder it's on clearance!

We have a skiphop messenger bag, and I hate it. Too many useless compartments. Keep in mind that you'll have to maneuver in and around the bag with one hand, and zippers make that difficult!

I have no suggestions really but wanted to say I've been through 3, haven't really loved any of them. Two were Vera Bradley and one was a Skip Hop. I'd really like to get another one but figure I'll just dislike it as much. I'm tempted to get an open top tote bag and then buy some smaller bags to go inside to "compartmentalize" things.

I liked our Skip Hop Duo when Kenny was an infant/baby. Except for the blue camo print. Hubby picked that out. But it definitely looks like a diaper bag.

I got sick of it and switched to the free hospital bag earlier this year. Plain black bag. For the zoo or other outings where we might take some snacks, I found a cooler bag that has outer pockets that are perfect for a few diapers/pull-ups and a small case of wipes. Sippies, diet coke and bottled water stay cool inside.
