  • Fall/winter shoe recommendations

I am SO not a shoe person and I can't believe I'm posting for help with this, but here I am.

I want a pair of shoes that I can wear with jeans during the fall and winter months. I don't want boots, sneakers, or high heel shoes. I've got those. I want something that I can wear with socks and that won't let water through when walking through a parking lot in the rain (apparently sneakers don't work very well even when there's an umbrella involved ) Comfort is a must. I get blisters on my heels if I as much as look at them the wrong way. They also can't be too narrow in the toe box, as I'm prone to ingrown toenails. TMI, sorry.

I'd prefer to get them online at Zappos and send back what doesn't work for me, but I also have Nordstrom, Macy's, DSW, and Aerosoles nearby. Aerosoles shoes have worked really well for me in the past, if that helps. Thanks!

merrells. hands down, pure and simple, the BEST shoe for cold weather. I had a pair that lasted me 5 or 6 years, and then dh stole my heart by buying me a new pair of the exact same style.

Thanks! I'll check them all out. I'm kind of partial to the Merrells that Jenn posted. They look super comfy and they're something I'd see myself wearing a lot while my flip-flops are getting a break. Now I'll go hide from Vishenka and our other fashionistas.

Merrills, Clarks, Bass- any of the preppy shoes should have something that will do. I'm currently wearing a really comfy pair of Privo flats at the moment.

I got the Merrell Jungle Mocs yesterday and I'm really happy with them. They're so easy to put on and it feels like I'm walking on air. I had read that they can look chunky and I was little worried about that, but they look fine. Well, maybe my size 6 feet have something to do with that. The one bad thing about them is that they feel different when driving, but I'm sure I'll get used to that soon.

P.S.: Jenn, how do you clean yours?

I just bought the Woman's suede moccasin shoes from Land's End in Brown and Black. I can't wait to get them! Thanks for the thread!

What about Born - my sister and my mom both have a pair and they LURVE them. I would like some too based on their recommendations.

I concur with this; I have a pair I happened to find at Nordy's Rack, and they're *very* comfy, and have a nice big toebox.

These are the ones I have:

I like Born as well! The styles have gotten much cuter over the years.

I don't know what I was thinking, but I bought a pair of Keen clogs, and because they're so comfortable, I wear them all the time... And so these ugly mofos that look like duck bills are in almost every single picture of me since the baby's birth... So, I'd stay away from them -- they were cute in the beginning and simply don't age well.

I have lived in my Keen sandals this summer but I am not a fan of clogs in general, my feet are big enough without a shoe that chunky on!
I do love some of the Lands End shoes From Suz's link and just ordered the z strap Mary janes. Hoping they are as comfy as they look I will be living in them all winter!

When it starts to rain, I don't think there's anything better than pulling on a pair of comfy rain boots.
Then again, I'm a girl who likes her boots in general.

I have a pair of red Born flats that are comfy and I get quite a few compliments on them.

I would be curious what our resident fashionistas think. When Vishenka posted some cute outfits for moms last year, I bought one, and get compliments on it.

Here are some shoes I am looking at. The last time I bought shoes was over 2 years ago. I get turned off from buying shoes thanks to hard to fit feet, and how high heels kill my surgically fixed foot that still has hardware in place.
