Thanks! I love modcloth, but I'm too chicken to buy anything because it's so expensive.

I just ordered this dress--praying that it fits. I'd like to wear it to my bridal shower

I hear ya, the shoes I got were over $100. Saw them at Anthropology too for about that much. That's why I was excited to see them 70% off and in my size.

BTW - cuuute dress. AND the price makes it even cuter.

I love there clothes, but the hem lines on the vast majority of their dresses are WAY to short for me. Sometimes being 5'9" sucks.

Oh, I'm 5'9 too. Thanks for the heads up. I liked a lot of their jewelry, but what I wanted was sold out.

              The dress came in...

              I love the look/style/quality.

Don't like the fact that it feels too short and I need to lose 5-10 lbs for it to fit properly

I'm still ambivalent. I'm thinking it might be doing bad things to my hips...I'm considering being a benevolent person and giving it to my sister since she would be the perfect size. Or maybe I'll just keep it until the shower as motivation....

I'm going to be brutally honest and say that I don't think it fits you quite right. And it's not super duper flattering. It's far too short for the style of dress -- and I have the opposite problem at 5'. But if you really like it, then keep it. Just giving you my honest opinion. I'm sorry if that wasn't what you wanted to hear from us/me. But again, with respect to fashion:

It's a cute dress, and I don't think you need to lose weight, but I agree I wouldn't be comfortable with the length. I would be trying to sit or stand with my back to a wall the whole time.

I don't think it's too short but also don't think it's the right cut for your body type. You need something either drappy with some interest around the bust or something with more structure throughout.

Eh...it just doesn't look good on me. Too bad, because if it were just a little longer/bigger, I'd really like it. I'm going to hit my local TJMaxx in a month or two and try again

In the meantime, the younger sister and I are in the middle of dress negotiations...

On this note....I tend to go for empire waist because I have no waist....never have - even when I was a 0. Now that I am a 4-6, my chest is the biggest area...still no butt or hips. Therefore, I think that the empire waist hides my "problem area" - no??? I thought I was looking good - never thought about the chest making me look bigger.

On a separate note, got my goodies from Modcloth - my tee is super cute, the shoes are fab but the coat is a little big - for $23.40 I think I can manage to take it to the alteration shop and still have a bargain.

Wow - I need to send you pictures. You have opened my eyes. I have always thought that a belt would just show how my middle is as wide as my hips. Never thought about it creating curves.

Okay Lily - what do you suggest for pear shaped? With the extra pounds I am carrying, I cannot have a skirt that hits above the knee. Since I am still nursing, I am a C cup, but that will shrink back to a B once Sophie is weaned. Normally, I have a fairly narrow waist, but I still have a bit of belly pudge.
