I agree with Lily, if you don't have a well defined natural waist you best bet is to create one visually.

Kris, for pear shape, I'd suggest boat neck tops and straight leg pants that are well structured (trouser jeans would be great).

What about a high-necked sheath dress for pear shapes? I found a satin ivory one on clearance today that I loved--I had to search all over DFW for a store that has one--they're holding it for me now!

        I love the dress Lily.

Do boatnecks really work when you are flat chested? The girls are quickly disappearing now that Sophie is nursing just 2x a day...

It's this--but all in ivory (and only $35). And longer, because I am (unfortunately) not that leggy

I think the pleating and the pockets would only accentuate your pear shape instead of balancing it out. It's a pretty dress but for someone tall and with no hips.

Drove a ridiculous amount of miles today to try it on--looked like hell on me. DF even said it didn't flatter me (I didn't kill him--him taking an interest really just meant it was that bad) You guys were totally right. And it wasn't on clearance at this store.

I really just need to stop looking for dresses, but something has come over me lately.

A white dress for my rehearsal dinner in May, under $60--sundressy or satiny

All is well in shopping land anyway--I got the cutest pair of black peep toes with a buckle for $5 today at Charming Charlies! (not cheapy either!) and a really nice swimsuit similar to the one below (but in blue) for $25 at TJMaxx. I've decided to embrace one-piece swimsuits again. Perfect for Hawaii!

Thanks! Climate is Texas. So HOT! The restaurant isn't fancy, but it is nicer than your average Chilis, if you know what I mean. It's the type of place a guy would wear slacks and a button down to.

Cute suit. Have you gotten it yet? I would be worried about where it hits on the hip making me look even wider than I am...

Yes--I didn't actually get the VS--I got a similar one in blue from TJMaxx for wayyyy less!. I'm a classical pear shape and I was amazed at what it did for me. I was afraid it would do bad things for my hips, but the ruching really helps and it makes me look more curvy than "hippy" if you know what I mean.
