    Help: Navy Trench?

    I'm obsessed with the idea of a trenchcoat for spring. And I look terrible in black because I'm pretty pale. I'd love to find navy or another dark neutral (green?). I love this one:

    But I think the green might be a little bright. Any ideas where I can find this somewhat affordably? It seems like all the retailers have trenchcoats but none in anything other than tan or black. You guys are the fashion geniuses....anyone help?

      Budget: $150 or so

      I like the green one a lot but I'm afraid it's too bright (I'm blonde and very light skinned and I'm afraid it'll make me look washed out). I'd LOVE navy but I've literally spent hours looking and can't find it. I'm all about classic so of course a Burberry one is my dream coat but that's 5x my budget.

            Just curious, why are you looking specifically for a dark trench? The classic khaki is great; I usually pair it with a red scarf which helps prevent me from being washed out. Of course, it is a bit cliche, but then why not lighter or brighter colors? Jackets are such a great way to show some flair, and I assume most of your pants are neutral (black, grey, navy, denim, brown, khaki), so any coat will go. Nothing wrong with wanting a dark trench, just don't feel like you have to go that way.

              Oh, I love that Michael Kors one. I'm really anal about the fabrics. So I did what Heidi did but I felt like a lot of the fabrics were shiny and cheesy. This is why I never shop, because I hate it and I'm too picky. And I realize that if I'm only willing to spend x then I can't expect better quality than that but of course I'm stuck on Burberry (yes, a girl can dream...)

              Navy because black is too harsh on me and I want something that I don't have to obsess about getting dirty. With the amount of traveling I do, I really prefer dark outwear because I can't stand when cuffs get dirty. It really grosses me out! And navy because I want a classic color. There are lots out there that are lighter/brighter colors but living in new england, light/bright is seen as trendy or spring-only and I'd really like it to be a spring/fall coat. Since I shop so infrequently, anything I choose needs to last several seasons and not identify that it was from one seasons "hot" colors. I'm a preppy kind of girl too so I love navy. (my wedding was navy and kelly green - my mom thought it was insipid and 'preppy handbook' style but I LOVED it).

                Oh, I was totally thinking about Cleveland living and blanked on the Boston half of your life. I think Navy is perfect! But if you do green, I think the one in the original link would be great as would the emerald Michael Kors. I know Boston isn't a bright color city, but I think emerald fits really well into the whole aesthetic*.
                That said, I think the Tallulah Sunrise coat would be better as the body is 97% cotton (3% spandex, so it'll give you a feminine shape) whereas the other two are poly-cotton blends. Cotton is much easier to clean, especially if you get anything oily on it. And you can totally be a fabric snob! Quality is uber important, particularly in basics because you'll want to get a lot of use out of them.

                *note: the only part of Boston I've spent time in is Back Bay

                  I totally agree about color, my two trenches are ivory and brick red. Wearing a dark color when it's already gray and rainy is depressing, at least to me.
