  • Shoe Help!

Tomorrow is the resident prom. Yes, a prom for residents. It's not really even semi-formal, just a dinner party that involves dancing. I had no idea the end of the year involved so many parties/gatherings, even though we aren't graduating!

So, I'm wearing this dress tomorrow: http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...tegoryID=46369. I wear a lot of black to evening events and I'm trying to break out of that pattern. I had DH ask one of the chiefs what women wear to the prom and the answer was a mix of sundresses and cocktail dresses.

But since I've worn black for so long, I have nothing but black dress shoes. Can I wear black dress shoes with the aqua dress? I have bone and ivory colored shoes, what about those? I'm not sure I like those as much as black (I feel like my grandmom should be wearing them). Or should I wear nude, even though my legs are so white, they could reflect the sun and blind innocent bystanders? The nude shoes seem to blend better on the models who aren't as pasty as I am.

    Help! TIA!!

I don't see why you cannot wear black dress shoes. I'd go with something open though.

I'd probably go with a medium brown colored heeled sandle. But, then again, I wear crocs.

I'd go with a nude/natural color or a summery metallic that picks up your jewelry. Either color can be worn with lots of other outfits/colors.

Pretty dress! I love the color.

I'd wear gold with it, but I am a fashion disaster, so you better not listen to me.

I kind of like the bone colored shoes with it but it depends on the shoe...if you have a pair of strappy black shoes, I'd go with that instead. However, if you plan on dancing...wear what is most comfortable - otherwise your feet may be miserable.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

              "resident prom"! LOL.

I think you have a lot of shoe options with the dress. I'm also eggshell white and feel that bone and light colored shoes look stupid on me. I think a fun black shoe would be fine. I love the suggestion above of a summery metallic.

I like the metallic idea too.

Have a great time! Our year-end thing is a baseball game. I'm wearing jeans.

Thanks for all the shoe suggestions! I have strappy black ones that are very comfortable and they will be my back-up pair. Just in case my trip to the DSW down the street doesn't pan out.

No kidding. Tonight is an end of year thing put on by Childrens (party suite, woot!), and then we go to another game next weekend to welcome the new interns.

We went to a Phils game in September as a part of an outing for his clinic "group" (everyone who has PM clinic exclusively at the kiddo hospital). We could have gone to another Phils game on Monday that was for all of the residents and chiefs, they even mentioned the group up on the scoreboard. But DH, in his never-ending brilliance, decided that the one we went to as part of our "mini-moon" was enough. He didn't quite get it that any time we can go to a baseball game is a good time!

Enjoy the party suite tonight, those things are awesome!! Are they playing anyone good?

                            Agreed!

They're playing Toronto. The Rockies are at .500 and 4th in the NL West, and the Blue Jays are at .557 and 4th in the AL East - should be thoroughly mediocre. On the plus side, Ubaldo Jimenez is pitching! First time I'll see him live.
