We have the residency end-of-year dinner Friday night. It starts out outside at the Dallas Arboretum. In the evening (thankfully). Too hot for men to wear suits and refuse to be overdressed next to my shirt & tie husband. So I bought this dress today (after trying on 183 dresses): http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...tegoryID=51711

It's perfect, looks good on me (yeah!). I have approximately 23 pairs of black shoes. But that just seems so predictable. My friend who helped me pick out the dress thinks I should find some yellow wedges or some other unexpected color. Just because that's kind of something I'd do.

Any thoughts? If I go with black, would you think pumps (black patent with a maryjane strap? Wedge heeled sandals? Stilettos? Or these:

Or should I go buy something else? A girl can never have too many shoes!

Yellow was my first thought too. You can't go wrong with black (I'd go strappy and summery) but yellow would be a nice pop of color and fun too. Or black and stappy with yellow chunky jewelry.

    Very cute dress!

I'll see if I can find some yellow shoes (and purse) today. I have yellow beads to make myself a necklace.

I think any bright color that generally compliments your skintone/complexion would work with b&w combo.

Well, I bought a pair of low-heeled wedges with flowers on them. Cute. $17. Got home and decided to go with sky-high spiked heeled strappy sandals that I had forgotten about. They have a rose on the strap. Went well with the black purse with a rose on it that I bought for tonight. We had fun!
