  • New Bed Linens

I need to buy new linens for our king size bed. I don't want to spend a a ton of money on them but I want nice ones. Anywhere know of a good place to start or of a brand that you love. We have a king temperpedic mattress, so no deep fitted pockets. I love the ones I have, but they are on their last leg...

I've had great luck with JCPenny sheets. We have a king pillow top. They're deep pockets, have a good thread count and were $120 on sale. I think the set I got was chris madden(?) brand.

Just bought new ones. I got 400 TC from Target ("Fieldcrest" brand) and I'm really happy. I don't like sheets with such a high TC that the sheets are kind of stiff, even after jillons of washes.

We also got some pillowcases from Walmart a few weeks ago - they are the sateen type ones - really soft (I forgot about those!)

I get a magazine called ShopSmart that is put out by Consumer Reports but has no ads in it so I trust their results - anyway, the one I just read last night says these are the best sheets based on wash and stress tests.

              Home 600 TC at Target
LL Bean Pima Cotton Percale at LL Bean
Wamsutta Dream Zone at Bed Bath & Beyond
Wamsutta 1000 at Bed Bath & Beyond

The Target ones are of course the cheapest.

Perfect timing on this thread. I am hoping to make our bedroom look like we are adults vs. college kids with random pseudo matching sheets. Cheri, I am going to check out some of the ones you listed. Has anyone purchased any of those beds in a bag combos from Macy's or Overstock? How did you like them?

I bought really nice Martha Stewart ones but I don't remember from where- either the PX or Target. They're the perfect summer weight.

I, too, need to get new bed linens. For some reason, the sheets I have bought in the past always end up rough feeling after many washes--I'm probably not getting a quality sheet. DH always says that our sheets are uncomfortable. What thread count is the best for super soft sheets?

I love sateen sheets, with the highest thread count I can afford. Something about the sateen finish makes them feel amazing, even if it's a lower thread count than another type. I don't have a brand preference.

I have a set of regular sheets (200 TC, I think) that came with our comforter and a set of sateen sheets (?? TC) from Bed Bath & Beyond. I absolutely LOVE the sateen sheets much more! They feel cooler and aren't rough at all. The regular sheets have shrunk considerably in the wash and feel rough. I am excited to try out the new sheets we got for our wedding: 600 TC sateen sheets from Martha Stewart.

We need some new ones bad. I bought some at Home Goods and DH said the thread count was not high enough.

I feel like a child, because I actually prefer jersey-knit sheets. They used to (and may still) carry some in modal at bb&b. Modal is basically a higher quality rayon that is soft like cotton but doesn't pill because it's a filament (long) fiber whereas cotton can only be a staple (short) fiber. Definitely more of a cozy sheet style than a luxurious one. But, hey, it's comfy and inexpensive...
For a more luxurious feel, I'd go with the sateen.
                            Happy shopping!

After getting 500TC stcratchy sheets online, I decided to only buy them when I can feel them. I've gotten good ones at Home Goods and TJ Maxx in the past.
