  • Winter boots

So I really dislike being cold, but I am a big cheapo so the 2 pairs of winter boots I currently have were between $20-$30. I'm thinking of splurging and buying some nicer boots that will actually keep my feet look warm, but I'd like them to be somewhat stylish (not heels) but I'm not necessarily impressed with the look of uggs.

I'm thinking maybe northface, but I have no idea if they are any good. Any suggestions on winter boots?

I broke down and bought UGGs last year AND the only reason why I did it is because they don't look like UGGs. They are are brown leather - look like any other pair of brown leather boots. They were worth the cost (and I got them for 40% off) because I wore the heck out them. They are comfy and warm....yet not ugly as snow boots. Thinking about getting another pair this year if I find them on sale again.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

I'm just looking for everyday boots because at this point I'm working from home and don't need to dress up.

I like both of those suggetions! That's what I'm looking for - something thats WATERPROOF but still warm enough for the winter, AND has some shape to it!

Heidi do you have to buy the liner separate?

I'm in the same boat with needing new winter boots. I had some Uggs that actually got a hole in them after one season. I'm considering buying them again for cold days when there is no snow just because they are so warm. In places here like Michigan Uggs don't go out of style because they are so warm. I also decided to buy these. Very similar to what Lily showed.

I'm watching this thread closely. I really hate to have cold feet, once my feet are cold it is a LONG time before they get warm. Personally, I don't care if they are cute, I just want WARM shoes/boots that I can wear with jeans or scrubs.

I really like the first one. Do you think I could wear them with scrubs and make rounds without anyone in the hospital noticing, or should I plan to change shoes? Believe it or not, that is a serious question! In the office I usually wear street clothes/shoes, but if my day is all hospital I usually wear scrubs.

Your feet might get very hot if you end up running in these indoors all day long. Plus you might get icky hospital stuff on them. Why not change into clogs or sneakers once you're in the hospital?

IF you don't have a place to leave your stuff while at the hospital or just don't want to mess with changing shoes, try wearing Smartwool socks. Other wool socks may work but to me Smartwool are the most comfy, not itchy, supportive, feet warmers, moisture wicking - keep your feet comfy socks. DH only wears SW when on his feet all day - so we wear them year round.

                          Lemme guess--a cycling-related discovery?

Uh-huh. We went from cycling socks to hiking, to now dress socks.

I don't know what you want to wear them with/for - I assume just with jeans, etc. when it's freezing cold. i would get a lined wellie like this
http://www.zappos.com/kamik-ellie-black or something similar - it gives you the traction for walking, warmth, waterproof goodness, a little style, and you can walk in deep snow or slush without messing up anything since they're tall.
I just ordered these online. I'll report back after I get them!
