I'm assuming most of you are also in charge of your SO's closet, so wanted to pass this on. Charles Tyrwhitt is having a big sale on their shirts. I love their non-iron ones, they do great in a wash and truly don't need any ironing.

Nice catch! DH is in desperate need of new dress shirts. I wish men's shirts also had waist sizes listed. It's so hard to know just how slim a brand's fitted or slim-fit shirts really are.

DH's sizes are such a PIA to find.

Rats! They don't go up to DrK's size. Thanks for posting this though. I'm always on the look out for stylish affordable menswear.

Speaking of Men's clothes...if you are looking for what I call investment pieces (as in willing to pay more for it because they will use it for several years), try http://www.virtualclotheshorse.com/

I have gotten some great deals on suits, shirts and pants for DH. The website does not do the clothes justice but the service is great if something does not fit or if you need to email Lance (the owner) for more measurements, etc.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

CT's slim fit is still pretty room and regular fit is very roomy. I think under a suit, slim fit looks better and for just a dress shirt regular fit would work. DH has had these shirts for years and they still look good.

I don't mean to hijack, but I didn't want to start a new thread on basically the same topic. I need recommendations for brick & mortar places where you can buy a decent quality suit that won't break the bank. We picked up Andrew's suit today after leaving it with Men's Wearhouse for 3 weeks for alterations. Let's just say I'm not pleased with the way it fits. I get why it fits the way it does (because he lost some weight and the suit is too wide in the shoulders), but they could've told me it will never look quite right and I would've looked for another suit then and there. Now we're 3 weeks behind and I don't even know where to start. I know they're not great quality, so I'm not really planning on going back. What other places would you recommend in Kansas City? Help!

Do you have a K&G? That's where DH's suits come from. Though now he just wears Dockers (relaxed fit, with pleats -- roll eyes) and polos. Shirt, tie & slacks come out maybe once a week.

I hadn't even heard of K&G before so I had to look it up. Yes, there's one nearby. There's also Jos. A. Bank, Nordstrom, and Macy's. That's really all I can think of.

What brands should I look for? I don't even know what to look for in a good suit other than proper fit. What I saw today was not it.

DH wears Dockers and short sleeved shirts - NO TIE- EVER!

But, I wish Vishenka could pick his wardrobe and make him wear it.

Have you tried Joseph A. Banks? I refuse to pay their full prices, but their sales are amazing. Last winter we bought DH a beautiful Merino wool/cashmere blend overcoat for $99. Full price would have been around $400. They do casual, casual-dressy, suits, individual slacks/jackets, overcoats, shoes, dress shirts, ties, etc.

Agreed on Jos. A. Bank! DH wears a dress shirt, tie and khakis/dress pants every day (except for NICU, PICU and ER rotations) and their stuff really holds up. I've only ever had to throw out one shirt because DH ironed it to death. Which is why I iron his shirts most days.

They do a fantastic job with suits. DH is 6'4" and takes a 34/35 length in his pants and he looks great in their suits. The tailors really know what they are doing. We have one of their executive cards (its free to sign up) and get offers and information on their sales by mail and e-mail. We purchased his tuxedo for our wedding from there - originally almost $800 and got it on sale for $350.

It's worth checking at Nordstrom Rack if you have one there, too.

DH gets most of his dress clothes at Macy's simply because they are always on sale and they are such a freakin steal! About a month ago he got a jacket/blazer for $30!

I heart Macy's, but their store here is a bit lacking. They have decent brands, but trying to find a slim fit 17 1/2" neck and 36/37 sleeves dress shirt is damn near impossible.

When we were near one we did the same. Got dh a classic suite there too. It's lasted through two interview cycles.
