Winter Coat Help

My old winter coat is approximately 3 sizes too big for me, so I need a new one. I'm torn between a longer coat b/c I often wear long sweater "coats", or a shorter, more functional one.

I hate the faux fur hoods. Hate.

I've always liked the hooded wool kind of car coat??? I dunno. Suggestions?

I also hate the faux fur hood business. I've actually decided that I don't really like hoods all that much. I've found it easier to just stick to hats and ear warmers.

Anyway, I have a short puff coat, a short wool pea coat (really old), and a long wool coat as my regular rotation. I wear the long wool coat most with skirts/dresses, or when I'll be walking a lot. Most of the rest of the time it's the puff coat.
