I used to try EVERYTHING, too. Wasn't until I forced myself to use Cetaphil's gentle cream cleanser (on a rec from the hoity-toity dermatologist that DH was rotating with in Scottsdale, AZ) that I saw any kind of substantial difference. Totally shocked me. It didn't feel like I was getting the same kind of clean feeling as other products, but my skin cleared up pretty quickly. Truly shocked.

i had to teach an ex-boyfriend that the feeling of 'tightness' after cleansing meant that he stripped the skin of all moisture and THAT's why he was oily all day and breaking out. His wife can thank me.
I use all Mary Kay Timewise products- the only breakouts that I have is occasional hormone related.
