  • Rain Jackets

Since we're talking coats, I remembered that I'm on the hunt for a good rain jacket. I currently have an Adidas jacket that isn't rain proof or wind proof, lol. Living on the East Coast, I don't need a rain slicker, but I do need something that will keep me dry when its pouring and slightly warm on windy days, without looking too bulky.

DH has an EMS rain jacket that has held up pretty well, although the lining has started to flake off around the neck of it. I've also looked at North Face, LLBean, Lands End, REI, etc, but I can't really tell if they do what I want them to do and if they last.

Any recommended brands or things that I should look for in a quality rain jacket?

    TIA!

I just got a Koppen, I like it because it fits me, it doesn't look like a tent and it keeps me warm and dry. I can't say how it lasts but so far so good.

I have a North Face rain jacket that has been through hell and back and still looks/works great. Here's a helpful link about raingear. My dad, the fisherman extrordinaire, sent it to me when I was looking for something new. http://www.rei.com/expertadvice/articles/rainwear.html

I got an llbean jacket ghat I'm very happy with bc I can wash it in the machine. I got all the kids and dh llbean rain jackets too- worked great when we were in Disney in torrential rainstorms.

I have a Marmot PreCip jacket that clings like a mofo when it gets wet. So, I'd advise against that. Unless you're going for the saran wrap look

You can't beat northface for function. They're worth the investment.

I have flimsy LL Beans that I picked up at an outlet. They're water resistant, but they're not warm.

I think the boden rainday macs are super cute, but I have no idea how they funtion. However they are British, so must know something about the rain, right?

Patagonia RainShadow with H2No technology. It even has venting pockets that unzip to help body heat escape. A pretty penny, but gently used ones can be found on Ebay quite easily.
Anything they make just doesn't die, period. I have a better sweater from the early 90s that is still kicking (purchased on Ebay).
The RainShadow isn't insulated for warmth, though. If you prefer warmth, I'd get it a size bigger to layer a sweater underneath or something.
