Christmas Cards

Just thought I would check and see where people usually buy their Christmas cards, and if they would mind sharing if they hear about any sales.

We usually do a picture card, and for that we've used Walmart and Vista Print. Those were the two cheapest I've found. For budgetary reasons I need to stick under .50 a card.

I bought from Costco last year. Great job and inexpensive. I've also used Snapfish and Kodak Gallery.

We also did Costco - they have really inexpensive holiday cards + envelope deals.

I usually buy them at Sam's Club.

Whatever style suits me at the cheapest price. I've typically been able to do it for next to nothing with Walmart, Sams, Costco, Target, and Walgreens.

We use Shutterfly, certainly not the cheapest but they have great options which is important for us because we send out Valentines Day cards instead of Christmas.

This year, I am using moo.com. I am doing postcards that I will design myself (both front and back). They run about a dollar a piece, though, but postage is cheaper...

I'm willing to spend more this year because we won't be sending additional birth announcements at a later date!

I'll have to check out some of the other places mentioned and do a price comparison.

We get ours at Costco, and I love it.
Although... Maybe we need to include a photo of Mr. Bean this year? Woops...

I like Costco. In the past, we have just photoshopped a picture with a greeting and stuck it in the cards I bought off the clearance rack the Christmas before. That's the cheapest by far.

Until we had DS, I did like SoonerTexan and bought cards after Christmas each year. Last year, I think I used TinyPrints. I forget... Wherever was cheapest for a design I liked. This year, I found a Groupon for Vista Prints that I bought a couple weeks ago. It was similar to the Zulily one, but a little cheaper.

We also use shutterfly for just about every kind of card that we need. They are really great about sending out emails for free cards. If you log on and put stuff in your cart and leave without buying it, they will usually send a promotional email to you in the next few days. We usually get 25 or so of the more expensive 5x7 cards for family and people who might just not toss them in the trash, and then a butt load of the super inexpensive photo paper ones. They are usually about 12 cents each on shutterfly I believe.

My Mom taught me to buy after Christmas cards and I used to do that. Then as a college student I got into sending animated e-cards for several years. After marriage I moved on to what seemed to be the tradition where I was and that was the photo Christmas cards. For that I went to shutterfly because I think they have the best layouts and I get a lot of email deals from them. I've had a lot of fun makings several photo books with them. One year I sent out our wedding announcement with our Christmas cards and they were a big hit with friends and family. For three years in a row I'd usually wait until the last minute when they'd offer 40% off which comes around Dec 10th and then order them and mail then off. I send out around 100 cards and get back maybe 20 but it's been hard times lately and one year I couldn't afford to send any.

My friend who just got married in June went to Costco. She made up a save the date picture invitations on a software at home and ordered 200 for $40. I thought that was a killer deal seeing as I spend double that on half the cards. Hers were creative 5X7 pictures and she cut and pasted a study construction paper to the backside that provided a mat frame on one side and on the other side she was able to write addresses on them like a postcard and then stamped and mailed them out.

Keep your eye on thefrugalgirls.com -- I have seen two listings for free Christmas Cards from photo websites in the last two weeks. I expect we'll see more!
