  • Outfit HELP!

So DH just informed me that we are having dinner the first night of our house hunting trip with one of his new partners and his wife. I suspect they are about 10 years older then us. Because of where we will be I suspect we'll go to dinner at a fairly nice restaurant. Not something that is jacket required but nice casual.

So I have to get up at 4am, fly on two planes, look at houses and then go out to a nice-ish dinner all in the same outfit. We are staying with the ILs and we won't be going to their house anywhere in there and I won't have anywhere else to change.

    ACK!

Suggestions? This is for the first weekend in February.

Seriously, no place to change?! Ugh, that sucks!

I don't know how dressy you need to be, but do you think you can get away with a pair of nice, dark-wash denim jeans, cute flats, and a sweater? Maybe accessorize just before you head to the restaurant with different earrings and necklace? Maybe a scarf?

DD is on to something, I like her idea. Or perhaps boots over the jeans? I think that look is classy, casual and dressy at the same time (depending on accessories and what you're wearing on top). I would also think that a nice pair of slacks with a sweater would work, too.

        Eh - that is hard.

If it were me I would probably have to change - even if it was at the airport or in a Starbucks bathroom somewhere. I usually just feel gross after long flights and I've totally changed without much of an issue on more than one occasion. (um once I even plugged my flat iron in, ha!).

But i do agree with the above. Dark jeans, flats (or boots), and a cute top/sweater (in a somewhat wrinkle free material - i hate being scrunched in an airport seat in nice clothes) are probably your best bets. I wear dark jeans to nice restaurants all the time.

I would also consider wearing a cami and just changing cardigans/sweaters to something a little dressier.

The accessorizing suggestion is really smart - and that you can just do quickly in the car! I just ordered some cute jewelry from baublebar.com that would be perfect to dress up dark jeans and a sweater. You may want to check anthro too, they usually have great things to dress up a more casual outfit. A cute clutch could also be useful (and easy to pack).

        Good luck!

Travel with clothes and pull a superman. I used to have to do it all the time in NYC when I was job hunting while at my other job. There is always a Starbucks or coffee shop where you can change. At the least, you can travel in a simple dress with a sweater and add heels and a cute scarf or jewelry at night to make it a little fancier.

FWIW. When I traveled for work, I once changed in airport bathrooms when hugely pregnant. Granted, I couldn't fit in the stall but...

I'd also change in the bathroom. I used to do it all the stinking time when I had to travel more.

As for what I'd wear...I would probably do a dress with tights and boots/heels.

C - I had a dream about this!! I woke up this morning with skinny jeans with flats (easy to go through airports) with a cute sweater over under shirt that you can later wear with a dressier jacket and your red heels...on my mind.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Ok gang, I need links - I can't visualize this kind of stuff. I have an ATL gift card to spend too if I need to go shopping.

Shopping will be one of the first things I do when we get moved, my closet is severely lacking!

                      What about something like this:
http://pinterest.com/pin/91338698662344401/ (with nicer jeans/grey slacks). You can change the shoes and add accessories for dinner...

I like those links. Here's one that can be dressy or casual, depending on your accessories or shoes. The jeans aren't dark, but the cut is cute.

That's very helpful guys! My sitter is going to come on Tuesday for a couple of hours starting next week so I'll have two times to find something to wear. Thanks!

I HATE it! I told DH last night that I've had what I consider to be some bad haircuts when I've left salons before but I've always been able to work with them. This is what I asked for. http://pinterest.com/pin/147070744050880150/

NOT at all what I got, its just above shoulder length and pretty much all one length all the way around. Not enough layers. I didn't love it when I left but I thought it was because she dried it under with a round brush. Its not been several days and I still hate it. I haven't decided what I'm going to do. She did a great job with the color but the cut is AWFUL!
