Not to hijack but in what material can you get a slip that works with jersey? I've tried before and never found one that STILL didn't show tights lines. I've just chalked it up to jersey being a summer weight fabric and assuming that you can't wear it well with tights.

Thanks gang, I'll have some time to do some shopping the next two Tuesdays before we go so hopefully I'll find something. The partner e-mailed DH last night and asked where we wanted to go so maybe I'll have an idea of where we're going and maybe that will help.

Lily, you can take some vacation from the new job and help me shop in a few months, right?

I told DH I'll even come to you - $5K in hand and we can shop until we drop! Or run out of money!

Not sure if you have and Limited stores out by you, but I was just there today and they have a ton of cute "dressy but not too dressy" dresses that would be perfect for this. A lot of them are also pretty versatile, so you could glam them up for a future event. A lot of them were also not seasonal, so you could wear with tights in the fall/winter or as a cute summer dress.

Wondering where you ended up. Im not a good clothes shopper for myself either. Sometimes if I like something on a mannequin I start there and add accessories.

I went to ATL first because I have a gift card there, I bought one shirt/sweater that I liked. Nothing else jumped out at me and they didn't have any jersey dresses in the store. Then I went to H&M and still didn't see anything that jumped out at me. Its been so long since I've shopped for myself I just don't know what to buy...

And probably yoga pants and a t-shirt (which seems to be my uniform as of late) won't really work for dinner.

Oh, I hate getting dressed up. Lol. Especially after a long day. I'm doing the all-day air-travel crap on Friday to Toronto to get there just in time to cab it to the hotel, throw on some mascara and put on some deodorant to then get in a cab for another 45 mins to meet up with my husband and his colleagues for dinner. I'll be getting up that morning at 5 and expected to look put together at 7.

I'd def. do the nice skinny jeans (If you can find Hudson jeans or Citizens of Humanity, they feel like sweats they are so comfortable but are really nicely tailored, and are great to wear on a plane), a nice sweater and accessorize with jewellery and lipstick. Hair in a bun if it's long enough.

love this sweater and top. and jeans

With skinny jeans i'd wear a kneehigh fitted black semi-pointed toe boot with a heel and a bit of a platform.

I also love these trousers -
                        http://bananarepublic.gapcanada.ca/b...d=1&pid=462982

they're much more dressy than skinny jeans and are very comfortable, with a tucked in fitted shirt and a cardigan, and belt. I'd wear a pair of pointed toe heels (not too high), have the pants hemmed so that they fall at the right height to the heel, just grazing the top of your foot.

With a scarf and a pea coat or well tailored mid lenth coat, it would look semi-dressy without being too much so.

And get a nice shellac mani so that you don't have to worry about too much jewellery.

Everything else can be kept in your handbag. Earrings, scarf, lipstick, bracelet etc...

This is my favourite how-to for hair when you feel like crap but need a nice semi-dressy bun.

                          Congrats on finding outfits!!

Side note - Just started getting those shellac manis. Best idea ever!! I slammed my thumb in a huge wooden garden gate about 15 min after my mani the other day... My nails are still perfect! No idea why I waited so long to start doing this. Totally worth the extra $ not to ever have to worry about chipping (and they last about 3 weeks).

Just FYI: my manicurist liked the CND (creative nail designs) shellac better than the OPI shellac...but OPI is just now coming out with a reformulation of theirs, and she *loves* the new OPI, better than the CND, even. Keep an eye out for it! I beat my nails to hell typing all day for a living, so I get a gel (brisa) fill every four weeks, and it lasts perfectly on me, but if I didn't already have that setup arranged, I'd totally try the new OPI shellac.

Unfortunately there won't be time for a mani/pedi, that was supposed to be Tuesday but A was sick.
