Essie nail polish

So I've been seeing Essie EV-ER-Y-WHERE lately, apparently it's the new big thing in nail polish (didn't even know there was a "new big thing" in nail polish, but there ya go). I was at target today and saw a display of them and admittedly they have some really pretty colors that you don't normally see in other lines so I thought I'd see what all the fuss was about. Well I just finished my toes and it took 3-4 coats to get decent coverage! WTF? If I'm going to pay $8 for a bottle of nail polish I expect 2 coats max. I bought a bottle of Sinful brand as well which was $2 and it went on with no problem. The Essie one seems so watered down, and I shook the thing for like a solid minute. Maybe it's the color? The Essie is a light blue and the Sinful is pink. Still -- not what I was expecting. It better not chip for like a month...

I love Essie colors (east Hampton cottage is my fav... I'm boring!), but in my experience it chips really quickly... Like 3-4 days. I am kind of hard on my nails, but..,

Yeah, Essie's not new, but it's just more widely distributed. I find that some of their colors chip more easily than others...but I actually find it to last longer than many OPI colors. (by last longer I mean keep better in the bottle. I change colors so often, I have a ton of bottles, and the Essie bottles seem to last longer)
