  • Amazon Mom

So for a while there was a waiting list, and I just got an email saying that I could join.... but it is telling me that you HAVE to sign up for Amazon Prime ($79/yearly). Was that always the case?

Will I really save more than $80/year on diapers (to make it worthwhile) if I become a member?

That was not always the case and I would wager no but that does get you free next day shipping for everything on the site.

      From the FAQ:
Why Aren't I Eligible for the Free 3-Month Offer from Amazon Mom?

If you have ever received shipping benefits through Amazon Mom, Amazon Student, or have had a free or paid Prime membership within the past 13 months, you are not eligible for the Amazon Mom free period. And since the Amazon Mom program is limited to one membership per household, this also applies to invited guests.

If you are not eligible for the free period, sign up for Amazon Prime today to receive all the benefits of Amazon Mom and Amazon Prime for $79/year.
Also, what prime gets you is free two-day shipping ($3.99 for next-day) on all items that are FULFILLED BY AMAZON (not everything on the site).

It's a new policy but all members have to do it (not just new members). I don't think it is worth it financially if you see yourself only buying diapers. But it is nice not having to buy them at the store! I get a lot of stuff from amazon so I paid for the prime membership.

Yeah, also, if you have more than one kid in diapers. I usually get better prices on diapers, wipes, and baby food through Amazon and it's nice to buy in bulk. I also get great deals on some household goods. I once bought like a year's supply of Splenda for 50 cents. I know, weird, but a totally great deal if you use a lot of Splenda.

Also, the thing that made me decide to buy the Prime membership is you can borrow one Kindle ebook per month. (Not all books are eligible, but I like to read, so I figure one book a month will help make it financially worth it.)

ETA - it also gets you access to stream a bunch of TV shows.

I had it for 6-8 months before I had to pay for it, as long as I made qualifying purchases, eventually that ran out and I had to do prime anyway.

Right now you get a three month trial, which I'll do and buy some diapers, just not sure how much to buy and whether it'll be worth the $79/yearly

Prime is worth the $$ in our house.
But, we use Amazon a lot (DH is pretty exclusively an online deal hunter), so it's worth it.

We use the streaming movies a lot, in addition to household purchases.

It's really easy to be added to a person's Prime acct for free if you have a family member or friend with it (that you uh
                      live with of course!)

We love Amazon Prime -- great for homeschoolers who forget to order a book until a day or two before they need it!

I've ordered nothing but index cards with Prime. I get a box a few times a week. I tried explaining to DH he'd rather me order index cards than go into Target!

To write words on to teach the kid how to read. DH also used hundreds of them for work. He's weird. We love some index cards! I should clarify I do not get boxes of index cards a few times a week! Just other shit I'm ordering lol!
