And to clarify, if you do this, you do NOT get the free streaming video and kindle lending library benefits, JUST the free 2-day shipping.

I got the Amazon mom deal when it was free, and I had it for whatever the max promotion time was- maybe 9 months. After it ran out, I was hooked. I now have the paid prime membership. It is so nice not having to run to the store for things, and it's even nicer that the prices are either lower or comparable to store prices. I love that I don't have to get last minute birthday presents at the store- the stuff comes super fast. I also shop less and only buy what I need. I won't advertise it any more but I'll just say it has been a godsend in my house!

Unfortunately it's breaking Amazon's TOS to be a guest on the account of someone whose roof you don't share. So I'm not going to say anything *cough* about the benefits of that *cough cough* but man, free 2-day shipping is NICE. And although a free Kindle book is also nice, I get plenty of those through the library, along with videos. When we had a month of free Prime earlier this year, it was fun to watch National Geographic and Bob the Builder streaming but their movie selection stunk. But I saw they added some new agreements with major movie corporations recently, so maybe the selection has improved?

FYI-- DH gets a reduced student rate on Amazon Prime. He says he had to create a new Amazon account using his .edu email address and say he was a student. He also got the first year free. For those of you with MS spouses this is worth a try!

We loved it but ours expired. Do you still have it free ST? We ended up paying for Prime which is still worth it for the free shipping, Kindle books, etc

I don't have a Prime membership, but I save a lot of money by subscribing to various products - mostly green tea, coconut sugar, and my various herbal supplements. They come every one to six months (depending on how quickly I go through each), and there's about a 10-20% discount for being a subscriber, plus free shipping.

Yep it is still free...my mom orders off our account too, though, so it gets A LOT of use.

I thought you could only earn a year of free activity?
