Short drive to Red Rock Canyon, and longer drives to other spectacular hikes. So if you have some free time and a rental car, check it out.
Seriously? Even in the summer? We will be going at the end of June. I assumed that it was like when we ant to Phoenix/Scottsdale one June with friends - dude told me that climbing Camelback was great - yeah, only if I got up and did it no later than 6 am.

ah - didn't think of that - I'd only hiked around there in winter and spring. Mount Charleston might be nice though - elevation and waterfalls - should be much cooler than the city.

I was in Vegas in June and it was hot as hell. As for shopping there, while the outlets are great, there's a sales tax in NV and if you come from a state that doesn't have one, you'll feel like you're paying a premium. I prefer shopping at home.

If you'll never wear sparkly clothes again, just skip them. Get sparkly accessories instead. I've been to Vegas several times and never felt the need to sparkle. Regular summer dresses with nice heels and big jewelry worked just fine.

The dress was only $33 from it's original $128. I can return it to the store if I do look Chesire-ish. Good point on the accessories. I'd wear those again over a sparkly dress. I also have a thing for shoes. Was thinking I should get some sparkly sandals for my LBDs? Also, can I wear an off the shoulder blousy shirt with black jeans and heels as an out to dinner outfit?

Do you have a Charming Charlie? They have so many accessory options that don't look like they were made for teens.

No, I do not. Remember, I live in podunk-ville where fashion and home decor is 10 yrs behind. I did check them out online and they do ship.

I think you did really well! I like the shirt and black jeans idea.

Also headed to Vegas this summer in late July - right after the boards. I hadn't given my wardrobe the first thought. I pretty much figured shorts and dresses I already had for nice dinners. We might get tickets to Terry Fator and another show as well.

I'm too much of a fashion idiot to even think about these things.

Um, not to disappoint, but you may need to have some of the things altered to accommodate your new shape...

I'll just buy new tops when I can. I can't even wear a bra yet.

Truthfully, I haven't even thought about shows. Maybe I should look into that. I only thought about clothes because my friend is a fashionista and I do not want to feel underdressed. I am trying to keep an open mind about Vegas. Worse case, I can say I've been there done that.

Definitely get the leopard print ones, they're very this season.

I went to Vegas a couple of years ago and had a blast. I highly recommend catching a show or two, that was the best part to me. If you have splurge money there are some amazing restaurants there as well but that was the only place I remember a dress code coming into play.
